"Rise and shine, sweetheart," Dean purred in Castiel's ear, attempting to wake him. It was nearly noon; he knew Sam would soon be up. Sunday is the day that errands are done, so Dean's parents weren't home. They got up bright and early and headed off, leaving Sam and Dean home alone. Dean made Sam breakfast every Sunday morning. They usually talked about what was going on in their lives and hung out until they had to run off and do their own things. All Castiel did was grunt, he obviously wasn't a morning person. "Cas, honey, it's time to get up. I've got to go make breakfast," Dean explained while Cas covered his head with the heavy comforter and groaned.
"It's too early," Cas whined when Dean tore the blanket off of him. He covered his face with his hands to shield his eyes from the stray beams of sunlight streaming through the half open curtains of Dean's window. All Dean could do was grin and giggle. He was absolutely too adorable. His scratchy morning voice and fuzzy curls made Dean go crazy.
"So...I take it you aren't a morning person?" Dean asked Cas with a hint of a smile and a suppressed laugh. Castiel removed his hands from his face and stuck his tongue out at Dean.
"No, I'm not a morning person. I'm a person that enjoys sleeping until at least 1 in the afternoon," Cas remarked as he stretched and yawned. "What time is it anyways?" Dean looked at his wrist as you would look at a watch, but he wasn't wearing a watch.
"My dear, I would say it's half past time to get up," Dean joked. Castiel gave him the best bitch face he could muster and threw a pillow at him. "I guess I deserved that," Dean laughed, tossing the pillow back onto the bed. "Are you going to get up out of the bed, sleepyhead? Are you just going to lay there?" Dean leaned down and planted a kiss on Cas' forehead. Cas looked up at him into his beautiful emerald eyes.
"What're you going to do if I don't get up?" Cas asked teasingly, giving Dean a sweetly evil smirk. Dean took this as a challenge.
"Well, I guess I only have one choice," Dean shrugged dramatically and picked Cas up bridal style in one big, swift motion. Castiel cried out in surprise and hung onto Dean's neck like his life depended on it. Dean sat Cas down onto his feet. Dean wrapped his arms around Cas and rested his hands on his lower back. Cas' hands were still around Dean's neck. They stood staring into each other's eyes for, it felt like, years.
"Dance with me," Dean whispered, starting to sway.
"But there isn't any music," Cas tilted his head, squinting at Dean and holding back a smile, starting to move along with him hesitantly.
As soon as those words escaped his mouth, Dean started to hum a soft melody.
The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breathDean's voice was quiet and deep. Castiel's face lit up as soon as he started singing. Oh, how he loved this boy, he loved him more than anything in the world.
Emeralds from mountains and thrust towards the sky
Never revealing their depth
Tell me that we belong together
Dress it up with the trappings of love
I'll be captivated, I'll hang from your lips
Instead of the gallows of heartache that hang from aboveCastiel wrapped his arms around Dean's torso, burying his head in Dean's chest. Dean held Cas close, running his hands through his hair and singing softly. They had both closed their eyes, enjoying the beautiful moment while it lasted. Their problems didn't exist in this moment, only them and right then. It was just them against the world.
