No ones P.O.V
Peyton walked with caution towards the headmasters office, she was shaking so much that her glasses were almost falling off of her face. Her blue eyes were filled with caution, but she continued to walk silently. She had reached the headmasters office, and she slowly put her hand on the knob, and twisted it open. She stepped in and closed the door behind her. The headmaster was sitting at her desk, talking to a man in a chair in front of the desk. Both of them turned their heads towards Peyton, and the man smiled. "Peyton, Today you will be adopted! This man" She motioned to the man beside in front of her, who was now standing up. "Is Adam Dahlberg, and he will be your new caretaker." Adam smiled warmly, and walked over to Peyton. "Hey, why are you crying?" Peyton didn't notice that she was, and Adam's brown eyes filled with worry, but his warm smile never left his face. He embraced Peyton, and Peyton didn't hesitate to hug back. "Welcome to the Dahlberg family, Peyton." He whispered, and Peyton only cried more. She pulled back, and took off her glasses and wiped her eyes. "W-When am I leaving?" She asked, and the headmaster smiled. "In a few hours actually! Adam only has to fill out a few more papers." Peyton nodded. "May I go back? I want to talk to someone." The headmaster nodded, and Peyton smiled in a thanks. She opened back up the door, and waved at Adam. He waved back, and Peyton went back down the halls to find Emily. When she reached the main room, she opened the door and walked in, easily spotting Emily still on the floor. Peyton excitedly sat down beside her, and Emily jumped a little. "You startled me! What happened?" Emily was now fully turned to her, and she noticed the red lines down her face from crying. "Why were you crying?" Peyton drew in a shaky breath. "I'm getting adopted today!" She said, smiling brightly. Emily smiled back, and hugged her tightly. "He's a really nice man to, and in a few hours he's gonna adopt me!" Emily continued smiling, and she pulled back. Peyton then realized something, and she looked straight into Emily's blue eyes. They were filled with sadness. "What about you?" Peyton's eyes began to water, and Peyton embraced Emily tightly. "D-Don't worry about me," She chuckled "I'll be fine, at least I don't have to give you my blanket every night." Peyton sniffled, and chuckled quietly. "You're so kind, why don't you ever get adopted?" Peyton mumbled, and she pulled back. Emily's smile faltered a little, but it never left. She opened her mouth to speak, but then closed it. "I guess I'm just that kind of kid." She mumbled, her smile fully dropping. Peyton's heart dropped. Peyton opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted by the inter com. "Peyton Williams, Please report back to the headmasters office!" She didn't realize how much time had passed, and she stood up hesitantly. She gave Emily one last hug, and she walked out of the room, a few tears falling. She walked down the hall, taking off her glasses and wiping her eyes quickly. Adam and the headmaster were waiting in front of the office, and Peyton smiled. "Well, Peyton Williams, have fun with your new caretaker!" The headmaster smiled as Adam walked over to Peyton, and grabbed her hand. The headmaster waved goodbye, and Adam began to walk thru another hallway. He reached the main door, and opened it. The smell of fresh rain hit her, followed by the smell of new growing flowers. They both walked to a car, and Adam opened the passenger door for her. She hesitantly got in, and she shut the door. She put the seatbelt on, and Adam got in on the other side. Adam put the car key in, and they began moving. Silence filled the car. Adam decided to break the silence, and he began talking about his friends at the office. "This is actually Ross's car, and hopefully he's not to mad at me for taking it." He chuckled, and so did Peyton. "Hey, tomorrow you can meet the office if you want." Peyton nodded, and Adam smiled. "They all seem like nice people, but Max sounds a little like.." Peyton didn't finish, and Adam quirked a brow. He didn't question her, in fear of triggering some memory of hers. Adam talked more about his friends, and that's when he brought up Alesa. "Alesa will be your new mom, and I guess that makes me dad." Peyton looked at him with a duh face, and Adam laughed. "Guess this now makes you Peyton Dahlberg." Peyton smiled, and so did Adam. They pulled into a driveway, and a woman instantly ran outside. The woman had reddish brown hair, and she ran over to the car. Adam got out, and Peyton got out as well. Peyton guessed this woman was Alesa. Alesa hugged Adam first, but then engulfed Peyton tightly. "Welcome to the family!" Alesa said happily as she pulled back, and smiled brightly. Peyton smiled back, but thought. 'Hopefully Emily doesn't get into too much trouble.' Peyton chuckled, and both Adam and Alesa hugged her.
