NICO'S POV:
Nico though he would never feel fear after Tartarus, but this moment right here proved him wrong.
He gulped, "Uh, Hi?" It came out more as a question than a statement. The crowd parted like the Red Sea, giving Nico a clear path to Skylar.
"Di Angelo, get up here right now, before I hex you into next year." She said with controlled anger.
"Nico?" Said Raquel, "I would advise you to get up here before she loses it."
Nico didn't complain, he nodded his head really fast and walked quickly towards Skylar.
"You owe us four things," she held up one finger, "An explanation to where you've been for the past FIVE YEARS!" Nico flinched, but that didn't stop her, because she held up another finger. "Some of your famous pasta to make up for the FIVE YEARS YOU WERE MISSING!!!" Nico winced, he didn't want all of camp to know that he makes really good pasta. Skylar held up three fingers, "You owe me some Mythomagic games to make up for the FIVE YEARS YOU WERE GONE!! I've been playing against Jax," she gestured frantically at him, "and HE SUCKS!"
"Hey!" Jaxon complained, "I'm not that bad!"
"No offense Jax," said Nico, "but you're terrible." Jaxon huffed, rolled his eyes, and crossed his arms.
"Anyway back on topic," said Skylar holding up four fingers, "We also want," she started thinking, like she had forgotten what she was going to say.
She turned to her sister Sylvia, "What else do we want?"
Sylvia shrugged, "A hug?" She offered.
Skylar then rounded on Nico, "WE WANT A HUG!!!"
Nico looked at his shoes, "I thought you didn't care." He said quietly.
Skylar's gaze softened a bit, "Nico, you're my best friend," she said, "of course I care."
"Then why did it take five years for you to find me?" Asked Nico.
Skylar didn't answer, and when Nico looked up, he saw that she had tears in her eyes. Sylvia spoke up for her, "You should know by now that our lives, are as crazy as your's." Nico knew what she meant. It came in the package.
"You could have moved on," said Nico, "you would have been okay."
Skylar's head shot up, "Okay? OKAY? You honestly think that I would been OKAY?" She yelled, "When are you going to get it through your brain that people care about you? Nico! It's okay to have friends! It's okay to have a family, even when your not related by blood!"
She held up her right hand, where a beautiful ring was on her finger.
Everyone in this seven had a ring that describes them with a quote inscribed on the inside. Her's was a white band, with only a Yin on it, and gold designs surrounding it. Her quote was 'Never give up. Unless, of course, a meteor strikes the Earth and kills everyone.' Nico never knew how it could all fit, but then again, he never asked.
Skylar and her sister were often referred to as a Yin and Yang; Skylar being the Yin (dark), and Sylvia being the Yang (light).
"In the name of your dad, have you read what's on the inside of yours?" She gestured toward his silver skull ring, "have you?"
Nico nodded, he read it every night, 'Hey you're not alone, you have us now.' She sighed. "I know that you didn't give up on us, because you're still wearing it, but," she sighed again, "Just know that you have us. Okay?"
Nico nodded, "Okay."
"Good." She took a deep breath, "Can I have that hug now?"
Nico was about to open his mouth to reply, but he was cut off by Atlanta. "What just happened?" She said.
"What do you mean?" Skylar asked
"You guys switched to Italian," Alexa said, "Again."
Sylvia and Skylar groaned. "Sometimes I really hate knowing every possible language out there." Said Sylvia.
"Well I'm going to go, if that's okay with you." Nico had been slowly backing away from the group, he thought they will let him rest. No such luck. Tyche must really hate him today.
"If you take another step, I will let Jaxon cut you into pieces and feed you to the dementors." Said Sylvia in a deadly calm voice.
Nico froze in his tracks and shuddered, unfortunately he's seen that happen before, and he never wanted to see it again. He was about to make a retort, but someone yelled, "HEY!" Cutting him off completely.
