Chapter 14

I couldn't answer her last night. I was up long before she was so I could pack my bags. It was my time to leave this little island. I had called my boss to talk about this job. Over the phone, he had informed me that the mission was ending soon anyway. The guy had left the country weeks after we had left.

The plan to pick her up was due in a few hours and I had all her belongings packed beside some clothes to change into. I was making our last breakfast on the island when she came stomping down. Indiana yelled, "you were meant to be there when I woke-up Dallas and you weren't!" Tears were running down her cheeks and her fingers were in her tangled mess of hair.

I finished plating up her meal "eat your breakfast princess we leave the island in a few hours." I spoke calmly keeping an even tone.

Indiana sobbed louder "I can't believe you Dallas, I can't believe you don't want to see this through till the end."

I pushed the plate towards here "Princess this is the end the mission is over now, you can go home now and be with your family and...your fiancé." That word on the tip of my tongue was like poison to say out loud.

Indiana gave me the dirtiest look "okay thank you Dallas, for protecting me, for teaching me and for showing me my first heartbreak." After she had finished talking she stormed up to her room to get changed and pack her pyjamas.

Fifteen minutes before we were due to leave Indiana came out of her room and went straight to the plane. I whispered behind her "I'm sorry princess."

I didn't think she heard me, she didn't show she heard me but that didn't stop me from still wanting her any and every way. Indiana and I buckled up for the long flight ahead of us.

A few hours into the flight Indiana whispered "I need to know, are you being mean because of the arranged marriage or because you were playing me?" I could hear hurt lacing her voice.

I sat in front of Indiana facing her "I don't want to get hurt Indiana, when you get home you are going to have to make your engagement official and I will leave."

Indiana spoke harshly "so you're being selfish then."

I nodded my head "I never wanted to be selfish with you Indiana, but what were we thinking you are a princess and I am an ex-criminal bodyguard."

Indiana pushed herself into my arms cuddling me "I never saw you as a criminal because there was always more to that story."

I nodded my head in agreement "but what is the press going to think Princess, they aren't going to get the whole story they are only going to use the most scandalising piece and tarnish my name. I want better for you Indi and if being selfish does that then so be it."

Before I could do anything Indiana had her lips on mine in a long passionate kiss that took my breath away. When she pulled away she put her forehead against mine "I don't want you to be selfish I just want to be with you."

I shook my head "there is too much Indi, I live in Chicago and you live in the United Kingdom. I have my family there and you have your family and kingdom here..."

Before I could continue Indiana interrupted "I would give it all up for you."
