Bright lights flashing, sirens going off, smoke and a thick smell of petroleum fumes were in the air.
I'm clutching my seat belt begging for it to come off, tears streaming down my face and I can feel my body begin to shake as panic sets in.
I look through the thick smoke that has now become my only source of oxygen and I see something that makes my hairs stand on end, I forget about myself and thankfully my seat belt comes undone; with that click I feel my body being thrown to the ground at the force of gravity.
I hadn't realised we were upside down, my head is spinning, tears are streaming down my face and I can feel shards of glass penetrating my skin. But none of that seems to worry me, all I can think about is the driver, the person that has been the only real family, the person that without him would make my life worthless."Riley! Riley! No wake up, Riley!"
I screamed my lungs out, I tried lunging towards him to help him; I only managed to get his seat belt off.
I wish I hadn't.
Riley landed on me, lifeless and limp, I saw his face.
The face that normally had a mischievous grin etched onto its face or that one time when I got him so mad that his whole face turned red when I destroyed his lacrosse stick.
Streams of tears poured down my face as I went into a state of shock, my body turning cold and numb; the only sound was a person in the distance calling my name.
"Melissa! Melissa! Wake up!"Sure enough my body woke up to someone calling my name.
Rivers face came into view, concern etching his beautiful face; I looked around and noticed where I was. Most people would freak out that they're not in their home, but I couldn't be more happy.
I realised how gross I must have looked with tears still running down my face and half of my body was covered in a layer of sweat.
I didn't want him to feel obliged to be nice and I hated him seeing me at a weak point.I mumbled a quick apology and tried to get up and leave but before I could get very far, River grabbed my waist, ever so gently as if I was fragile and engulfed me in a hug.
We stayed there for what felt like forever and for that I was so grateful.
I love hugs, especially from someone tall they make me feel safe.
After the hug, he gently pulled me next to him and we both laid together on the couch.I probably should have felt embarrassed that we were practically spooning, but I didn't, it just felt right. As I felt myself falling back into a deep sleep, I heard the faintest whisper in my ear.
"Sweet dreams beautiful,"
and a soft kiss was placed on my temple.I woke up to a bright light streaming through the windows. I'd haven't slept so well in such a long time.
I'm normally not a morning person but today I feel so happy and alive.
I have to admit that there was this unknown emotion inside of me when I didn't see River; but then I heard the sound of food being cooked and I made my way swiftly to the kitchen.
On the way to the kitchen I felt goosebumps cover my skin, I saw one of Rivers hoodies on the ground and put it on.
I didn't really care too much about what he said, when you're cold it does something to your brain.
I skipped into the kitchen, the hoodie reaching mid thigh, it was warm and fluffy and it smelt amazing; as I walked in I saw River deep in thought, whilst he was cooking some bacon.Hmm I wonder what that's all about... Oh well, perfect time to scare him. One..two...three.."ahhhh!" I yelled as I jumped onto his back.
"Eeeekahhhhh!"
Rivers not so manly scream could be heard from miles away.
I hopped off his back falling to the ground and started laughing uncontrollably, my stomach was aching and I was hardly getting any noise out, I just sat there clapping and gasping for air.
It took him a while to compose himself, after starring at me for a while with confusion written all over his face; it must be because I look like I'm dying, he started talking.
"You know that wasn't very nice, I could have started a fire or something."My laughing stopped and my tone went serious.
"No! Not the bacon!"
He once again looked at me with bewilderment, I started feeling self conscious and played with the sleeves of the hoodie which was way too big for me.
"You should wear my clothes more often beautiful."
He said with a wink and walked away leaving me speechless. Thanks everyone for reading! I hope you enjoyed it and please don't forget to comment and vote please.
How'd you like the nightmare?
I'd love to hear what you think. Would anyone like to hear from Rivers POV about Melissa's nightmare? If so, please comment a simple yes and I'll start working on it. :)
Thank you once again for using your time to read this, it means a lot.
