Chapter Three

Chaerin's POV

The morning sun crept in through the curtains and my eyes opened gradually, trying to adjust to the light. I jumped out of bed and did a few stretches to loosen up my muscles. Where am I? Oh. Right. The fact that I was actually adopted and that I left home was hard to take in and I was still trying to get used to it.

Drawing the curtains, a familiar figure caught my eye. He was lying on the road outside the house and it was as if he had fainted. Oh gosh is he okay? I ran down the stairs and out of the door to check whether he was okay. "Sir? Are you okay? S..Sehun?" I was extremely shocked. Using all the strength that I had, I lifted him up and brought him through the gates and onto the grass patch.

"Sehun? Sehun wake up!" I shook his body and was worried that something had happened to him. Despite my many attempts, Sehun didn't wake and I ran back into the house to call for Jungkook's help.

Sehun's POV

I ran as fast as far as I could from the mansion, not wanting to be caught and forced back into that terrible home. Is this a wise decision? I was starting to doubt my ability to find Chaerin but I pressed on.

Place by place, I searched for her at all her favourite locations but she was nowhere to be found. Midnight came and I was physically exhausted. There's only one place left. Mother used to always eat with Chaerin beside a giant house, as big as mine, whenever Mother had to go to work after that. Maybe she is there.

My tired legs ached but I carried on until the restaurant was in sight. So...close. I took one last step before dropping to the ground as my whole body grew weak.

Kris's POV

"This is my room. You can sleep here tonight first. Once Chaerin's room is cleared, you can move there." Joy simply nodded her head and I took the cue to leave the room.

Suddenly, I heard Father shout Sehun's name before the front door slammed shut. No way. Sehun left too? I ran to Minseok and asked him what had happened.

"Sehun left the house." I rubbed my temples and paced around the room. Why is this happening?

"Kris, there's nothing to worry abou-"

"Nothing to worry about? Chaerin has left and so did Sehun. Is this really worth it?" Father patted my back and sighed.

"They chose this. Let them be. Life will be good here Kris." Everything within me wanted to argue and persist that they come back but I was afraid of the consequences. Chaerin was right. I am a coward. Sorry Chae, sorry Sehun. Nodding my head, I mumbled, "Okay Father."

Chaerin's POV

Jungkook helped me bring Sehun in the house as we lay him on the bed in the guest room.

"He just fainted from exhaustion. Give him some time to rest and he will wake up soon." Mr Jeon assured. I trusted what he said as he was a doctor and left Sehun to rest. Why did he faint on the road? What is he doing away from home so late at night? Do the rest know about this? I had so many questions to ask him but they would have to wait.

"Chae, didn't you say that Sehun didn't stand up for you and betrayed you? What is he doing like this instead of living a happy life at home?" Jungkook asked me as we sat side by side on the sofa.

"I don't know...I guess that we'll have to wait for him to wake up for us to find out." I sighed. Something in me felt happy though. Maybe he was looking for me.

Sehun's POV

Where am I? The room that I was in was completely unfamiliar but it didn't seem as if I was in danger. I was nicely tucked in a heated bed and it felt extremely comfortable. The last thing I remembered was fainting on the road. Someone must have helped me. Looking out of the window, I saw the road which I fainted at and the restaurant up front. I am in that giant house?

I washed up in the toilet using the disposal toiletries inside. This family must be very hospitable. Suddenly, I heard a voice coming from downstairs and my eyes grew wide. Chae-Chaerin? Running down the stairs, I saw Chaerin and a familiar looking guy sitting on the sofa.

"Chaerin!"
