<12> Bad Boy

Colleen's POV:

Its 11pm and Lily was out with her boyfriend Max. She still hasn't come home. Her curfew is 10:30.

I pace back and forth as Joshua sits on the couch watching me.

"Are you going to do something Joshua?" I asked getting annoyed.

"Shhh." Joshua said holding a finger up to his mouth. I realized that Lily's little sister was sleeping.

"Jordan is sleeping and will be not be in a good mood if she wakes up." Joshua said standing up coming towards me.

"I'm not in a good mood! Lily is never out past her curfew, should I call the cops?" I said getting my tears in my eyes.

I'm not a very overprotected mom but in moments like this, I go crazy.

"Not yet baby, give it like 10 more minutes." Joshua said rubbing my shoulders.

We sat down on the couches as I tapped my feet waiting for something to happen.

5 minutes later I heard a car zoom down the street.

"If that's Lily I'm going to kill her." I mumbled.

I peered out the window and saw Lily getting out of the car. She leaned in the car window and kissed her boyfriend.

"Wait here she is going to try to sneak in, turn off the lights." I said.

I was furious now that I know she is ok.

Lily was is such a good child and never acts up like this.

We slowly see the door knob turn and here the door quietly shut.

I turn on the lights as Lily stands there shocked.

Joshua and I stand there waiting for her to say something.

"Are you going to explain yourself?" Joshua said.

"Max got lost while coming home." She said, her face getting bright red. She twiddled her fingers as she looked down.

She always twiddles her fingers when she is lying.

I felt a little bad, I'm not the type of parent who just screams at there child.

"Go upstairs Joshua." I said quietly.

He rubbed my back and walked up stairs.

I went and sat down on the couch and looked at Lily as she took of her shoes.

"Lily." I said quietly

"Mom." She said back to me.

I patted spot on the couch next to me and she hesitated at first and sat down.

"What did you do tonight?" I asked scared. I was a pretty bad teenager, I don't want her to be like me.

"Nothing mom, I promise. We went to the movies like I said and then we were hungry afterwards and went through McDonald's drive- thru." She said still looking down.

"What else?" I asked.

"He might have drove very very fast." She said quietly.

"Lily! Are you crazy? You could die." I said getting mad again.

"But I didn't!" She said back.

"Why are you like this now? Where's the old Lily that we be out shopping on Friday nights?" I said disappointed.

"I'm still the same Lily, Mom!" She said getting frustrated.

"You're not the same Lily. Ever since you started Max, you changed. Don't let a boy change you Lily. You shouldn't date him." I said.

"I thought you were ok with me dating and now your telling me that you don't even want me to be dating him." She said upset.

"Lily I don't mind if you date good boys. Not boys like Max. You barley speak to your friends now because of him." I said pushing a strand of her brown, straightened, hair behind her ear.

She got tears in her eyes as she looked at me and hugged me.

"My friends told me not date him but he was so cute and he is the only guy that has ever liked me." She said crying.

I hugged her tight and pulled away.

"Lil, I'm positive that he is not the only guy who likes you. You do not need him." I said looking at her.

"I thought I was doing the right thing. I mean all of my friends have such great boyfriends. I've never been one of them." She said crying.

"So did all of my friends Lily, I didn't even date boys till my sophomore year in college." I said giggling.

She smiled and looked back down.

"Do you really want to date him?" I asked seriously.

She shook her head no.

"Then don't. Don't date people to just date them!" I said smiling.

She nodded and hugged me.

"Thanks mom." She said.

"I love you, sweetie." I said to her.

"Love you too. Now what's my punishment?" She asked.

"Dating him was your punishment."
