I sighed, sleepily rubbing at my eyes. It felt too early to be up even though it was only half after eleven, but I was up, and it was all because Kellin wanted to hang out all day because apparently we haven't been doing so lately, although I could agree completely. Ever since him and Vic got together, we've been spending less and less time together. Don't get me wrong, I loved that Vic and Kellin were together, but because of their relationship, I was slowly becoming the second person instead of the first. But today was what Kellin liked to call "best friends day out" which was just us going to the mall and shopping, but I liked that he was making time again for just us.
"You ready?" Kellin asked, coming down the stairs. I had been staying the night here ever since I got back from the party that was a little over a week ago. I still hadn't gotten any text messages or calls, or anything of the sort from Austin, although I didn't really want to talk to him. I felt so...dirty now all because he was cheating on Shay- at least I think so, I wasn't very sure, but I had been thinking so much lately about all the times that Shay came over towards us whenever we were at parties and hung all over Austin as if they were really dating. It seemed reasonable and I couldn't help but to believe it.
"I guess so." I told him, nodding. Kellin smiled widely and tugged at my wrist to bring me outside. We both got into his car and he started it up, pulling out of his driveway and heading towards the mall.
"So whatever happened between you and Austin? I haven't seen or heard from him in almost two weeks." Kellin said the closer we got to the mall. I shrugged and stared out the window, watching as the people and buildings passed behind us.
"There's nothing to tell, really. He's just been...busy." I told him, feeling guilty for lying, but I wasn't about to delve into something that I spent nights trying to forget. I wanted to talk to him, but then again I wasn't so sure I could trust him anymore.
"Oh! We should go on a double date soon!" Kellin said all-too-excitedly, swerving on the road. I looked at him wide eyed.
"What? Austin and I aren't even dating!" I told him, shaking my head.
"So? That doesn't mean that you two couldn't possibly end up getting together, and besides what's the harm in going on a double date even if you two aren't going out, I just think it'll be nice." Kellin had a big grin on his face which only caused me to roll my eyes. If only he knew.
"Whatever," I mumbled, staring out the window. I didn't say anything else as we drove the rest of the way to the mall.
Once we walked inside, we began to go through stores, shopping and trying on weird and nice things. It was a lot of fun, actually. This was the most we had done together since forever, and it was nice.
"You know, I'm surprised that your parents haven't come to look for the twins and your sister." Kellin said as he searched through a clothes rack beside me.
"I know, but I'm sure they're both going to come knocking on Aunt Melissa's door soon, demanding to know where they are." I muttered, rolling my eyes, although I wasn't so sure. It's been close to two weeks since I brought the twins and Alex over to Kellin's house, and yet, neither mom nor dad showed up, banging on the door with guns blazing, or even the police for that matter.
For a few more hours, Kellin and I continued to shop around before stopping at the food court to eat considering either of us had anything this morning before leaving, but this entire afternoon was really fun.
As we were sat eating, I began to glance around, tuning Kellin out slightly as he began to blabber on about something he and Vic did a few days back. I wasn't that interested into what he was saying, but more so at the very familiar guy standing right outside a burger place. It was Shay, and he wasn't alone, standing there with some other guy who had an arm wrapped around Shay's shoulder. They shared a quick kiss before walking into the burger place, leaving me confused. I knew I still wasn't sure whether or not Austin and him were together or not, but this had me more confused than ever. What did I do to Shay to not make him like me? Did I do something while I was drunk? Either way, I was almost tempted to get up and walk over there.
"What are you staring at?" Kellin asked, snapping me from my thoughts.
"What? Oh, I'm um- what? Nothing." I said quickly, shaking my head. He looked at me confused, head cocked to the side. I smiled and shook my head again, sipping from my drink. I was still very confused and wanted answers, but I would be insane walking up to Shay who hated me and would be even more insane texting Austin who I was pretty sure hated me, too.
I sighed softly, shaking my head once more again, trying to rid of the frustration building up. If I was being honest with myself, I really missed Austin. I missed hanging out with him and listening to his stupid, flirty jokes. I missed his stupid smile and cute laugh. God, I just missed him so much, and we weren't even together, or close to it, but that didn't stop the feelings or the emptiness inside me from not being around him for so long.
"You keep spacing out, Als." Kellin said, once again snapping me from my thoughts.
"I'm sorry, I'm just thinking." I mumbled, running fingers through my hair.
"Do you want to tell me?" He asked, and before I could answer, my phone buzzed in my pocket, causing me to jump slightly. I grumbled under my breath and pulled it from my pocket, my eyes widening slightly as I read it. He couldn't be serious.
