a lil update before i leave for school

jason and hazel were in the shallow end of the pool, him holding her up as she practiced kicking her legs and moving her arms. that one day of swim training turned into a week, so he's been here all week teaching her.

i was watching, sipping on my lemonade when i heard my phone ring. sighing, i grab my phone, lifting my sunglasses to look at the screen. it was a number that wasn't saved so i answered confused.

"hello?" i ask. "who's this?"

"uh..." the deep voice mumbles. "you probably won't believe me but it's justin bieber."

my cup fell out of my hand at the name, making jason and hazel turn toward me. "you okay?" jason asks.

i nod, going to get a glass of hot water to wash the lemonade away. when i stood up, i heard, "uhm hello?"

"i-i'm sorry." i croak. "i knew this day was gonna come sooner or later."

"i'm sorry for calling unexpected." he sighs. "you don't have to give me permission but i'd like to meet hazel. her birth mother and i are separated but i called her, she said she's catching the first flight to new york tonight."

all of this was giving me a quick headache. i was about to speak but i heard jason. "i have to go to work in like an hour. i'll be back tomorrow."

sighing, i nod. "again, i'm not pressuring you." justin says into the phone.

"what about tomorrow?"

i had a feeling this was gonna turn out horrible but it's his child. he has the right. "tomorrow's fine. your house or somewhere else?"

"you're famous so my house." i say. "do you need my address?"

"yeah." he clears his throat. "text it me."

"okay." i simply reply.

"and thank you." he says clearly.

"it's no problem." i smile weakly at hazel and jason who were drying off with the towels. "i'll see you tomorrow."

"bye."
