When I woke up it was 2:49 pm the next day and I felt a little better I didn't feel as hot as I had yesterday. I was hungry and for the first time in three days felt as if I could actually eat something, much to the liking of Dr. Solstice when I told him when he came in to check on me. He sent a nurse to bring me something small to start off with and if I could keep it down for half and hour then I could eat more.
I had woken up at midnight and thrown up the sandwich then fallen back asleep after taking a couple more Tylenol. Apparently they worked like he had wanted and now my temperature is only 104.7 not good but better than it had been yesterday. The nurse brought in some strawberry yogurt and I ate it then I fell back asleep. The next time I woke up it it was 7 o'clock and my dad and Alex were there I sat up and looked at them.
"Hey, Maiya. How are you feeling?" Alex asked me coming over.
"Better. I was able to hold down some yogurt earlier today." I told them smiling.
"Really? That's great, does that mean you can come home soon?" Alex asked me while Dr. Solstice walked in the room.
"She can't go home yet we still don't know why she's sick or what's causing her asthma attacks." Dr. Solstice informed us.
"Aw. But I want my sister home it'll give me something to do. Dad has seen the error in his ways I am now grounded for three months the only time I'm allowed out of the house is to come see you." Alex informed me looking innocent and utterly adorable.
"Aw. Come on dad cut him some slack he was in a bad place. Ground him for only two and a half months." I said laughing, that made Dr. Solstice happy you could now see how much I'm improving sitting up, joking around with my family. I feel a lot better and I have a feeling things are going to keep getting better with us. Starting with me getting out of the stupid hospital and getting back home, and pulling my grades back up. "Can you guys go by the school tomorrow and bring me my work?"
"I can Alex is not allowed on the school grounds until his suspension id over. And I will get your work tomorrow." My dad told me.
"Thanks dad. Can I please have some food?" I asked Dr. Solstice. My stomach rumbling to show it wants food.
"How about I go grab us some good food?" He asked, "I have a dinner break now."
"Yea." I said smiling and practically hoping up and down on the bed. "When will you take the IV out of my arm?"
"When you leave the hospital most likely, or when you just don't need it." Dr. Solstice informed me, only making my upset. He left the room to go get us some good food and not some of that nasty hospital cafeteria slop. When he got back he had a salad for both of us, with no nuts, and we ate. I ate my entire salad and drank my orange juice. After I ate Dr. Solstice took the plate and cup and threw them away, he was happy I was able to eat it all. It was eight o'clock and visiting hours were over so Alex and my dad left and Dr. Solstice needed to talk to me.
"Your test results will be back tomorrow." he told me.
"Really?" I asked.
"Yes. Tonight or tomorrow actually." He informed me. A nurse came in and said my test results were here Dr. Solstice left to go get them and then came back in, "Ha right on time I'd say. Let's see whats wrong with you shall we?"
"Alright so after this can I go home?" I asked
"Maybe, well see Maiya." he said and then started to look over my test results. "OK so like I said before you had a reaction to the anesthetic but you also have the flu."
"Yea OK so what about my asthma why is it bad again?" I asked impatiently.
"Now that's where the problem is." he informed me, "The tests were inconclusive."
