I stepped into the pitch black chamber ineffectively lit by neon wires. I looked around to find a holoscreen. I approached and it blinked open. A man with black hair, large yellow eyes wearing a blue military uniform was staring at me.
"Hello there, new traveller. I am Bolt, the council member who runs the kynigos division. My partner whose trying to creep you out is Isandylle." The man said.
I looked back and found the girl with the purple dress from a while ago staring at me. "You absolutely ruined it, Bolt." She said flatly.
"I was just giving her a heads up. I think you should give her a translator. I'm getting short on English words."
"Lucky for you, I can speak perfect English. She'll get her translator when or if she agrees to stay."
Bolt grit his teeth as a bomb was detonated behind him. The shockwave shook the camera, but Bolt seemed unfazed.
"Girl, since you cannot return, would you like to join the kynigos division?" Bolt asked me.
Isandylle hit her forehead and sighed,"Bolt, you are so direct to the point that you managed to confuse her." She turned to me and explained," You are currently in the downcity within the planet Cadris. The original Cadris residents are currently waging a war against the terrelans, a group of 'aliens' who have managed to hack our teleportation systems. The last and most stable system was in Amonie, the city you escaped from with once of my Splitz. Healthy humans are rare here therefore Bolt is asking you to join the kynigos division, our... What do you call it.... Military. Bolt needs a Titan pilot and only humans can do."
" Why can't you use other races?" I asked
" You are really observant," Isandylle rolled her eyes."We can, but they'll die. Their brains cannot handle the mental strain. We do have a drug for that, but it's too dangerous to give. A healthy human, however can take the strain without dying. You can only hook up for a few hours at max though. As you have noticed, there are Seadrixes. Technically, they are humans, but a part of their brain is busy fighting off the virus."
" Wait, you're really advanced people, but why can't you make more portals?"
"We can, but we don't have the resources to stabilize it. If it's not stable, you can be sent off course and end up without oxygen. Make a choice, will you die or will you fight to go back?"
At that moment, I realized that I would not live the ordinary life anymore. I was stuck on a random planet with no way out. I shouldn't have pushed the man into the portal. I should've just cowered in fear of a seadrix. I had no choice. I missed my parents, my very few friends and Trix. I had to go home. I just had to or I couldn't live with the guilt. I looked at Isandylle and replied, " I'll fight to go back."
Bolt whistled and commended," you have a way with words, Isandylle."
Isandylle ignored him and told me, " Now, let's pick your Titan."
