Adri's POV
Adri was led into another hangar, but instead of crates and supplies being pushed around, some type of giant mechs were being made. Each had different styles but they all seemed humanoid, but not really. I couldn't put my finger on what they looked like.
"Welcome to the workshop!" Isandylle gestured at the large chamber.
"I thought you said that titans couldn't be used by majority if the population." I reminded
"Oh, they can't, but in case of and emergency or if a human comes along at least we have a way of defense. Just choose one of the newly manufactured ones. I believe Titanfall project: 776 will suit your needs."
"Which one is that?"
Isandylle gestured at a white mech which looked like a mix between a human and a raven. "We call her Cynthia. She has the latest Core:2056 Hygraxios metal and the AI system can run just by putting on the wires. It's not fully automated though, but it would be a good starter Titan and a really powerful one at that."
She led me to it and as I neared it, I could get a closer look. It was a 30 meter behemoth with a slim body and huge wing-like arms which touched the floor. It had 2 extra limbs at the back, probably a weapon, and talons instead of feet.
"We based it off the Seraphs. Their fighting style involves swift, but skillful cuts and flying. There's only 3 Seraphs in Cadris and they're all in the kygnios division fighting on the front lines. "
I approached the Titan and touched one of the talons on its feet. It was as smooth as porcelain, but had metallic properties.
"Are you sure I can drive this? I've never taken driving lessons and I've managed to crash a few cars. " I warned Isandylle
"If you cannot or in the unlikely case of passing out, the AI system will take over and just read your brainwaves. We haven't tested the AI system yet to see if it's one of the 'annoyings', but if it is, it's just a minor setback. Now, let's get you suited up and ready for war!" Isandylle explained as she led me to some sort of dressing chamber.
As I entered it, I suddenly fell to the ground. There was a mirror! I was panting and shaking as I saw my reflection. There was the girl who couldn't do anything useful. Isandylle stared at me with concern and clapped her hands. A metallic wall in the same design as the hangar's slid upwards and covered the mirrors.
"I knew humans had fears, but I can't understand why you fear mirrors. " Isandylle said.
I just lied there panting as the blast doors closed behind me. The horror was over, but I couldn't seem to move. Isandylle helped me up and I sat on the floor," Sorry, I just had a bad experience with mirrors when I was young." I explained.
"Push that down. We have to get out there as quick as possible. I just received a request for reinforcements!" She walked over to the dresser and handed me a white one-sie, a black skirt, knee high brown boots, a black jacket that was supposed to go down till my upper waist and some type of weird metallic cases bound together with a metallic cloth.
"The exo suit is to be put on like a backpack. I'll give you some privacy." Isandylle said, walking out.
I looked at the clothing the girl gave me and I suddenly questioned my decisions. Why did I agree to do this? They might be lying about portals and everything. I missed my parents. I missed the life I had before this weird mess. Could I even win against those strange creatures in the city in the sky? A tear streamed down my cheek and I looked at the clothes she gave me. I had no choice. It was either trust them and have a shot at going home, or getting lost in this strange world and end up dying. I wiped my tears off my cheek and started undressing.
----I stepped in front of the blast doors and it slid open. Isandylle stared at me as if I was the only person in a party.
"T-that suits you!" She said.
"Thanks?" I responded.
"You know how to drive that thing?" She gestured at Cynthia.
"Absolutely not!"
"Crash course once we take back Amonie! It works with your brain signals. That exosuit is placed on backwards!" She pulled it over my head and managed to get it clipped onto my hair,
"ow!" I complained.
Once she pulled it free, she flipped it and dropped it back down. It hurt, but the pushing on my chest stopped when metallic wires streamed out of it. I panicked and tried to swat it off, but it wouldn't remove.
"Don't fight it, it's just taking its shape." Isandylle said.
I stopped panicking and let it slide across my skin as I walked.
" Now, the only word you need to know is FERHHR : FLY, EXECTUE, RECLAIM, HYTELNAS (a/n: it's the action of being launched out of a gigantic creature and living), HOOK, RETREAT." She explained, " the exo suit has a grappling system just in case the wings fail. They're both brainwave activated so don't worry about that."
When we claimed the stairs, Isandylle opened a latch on Cynthia's head and said," good luck!"
I slid in and wires automatically attached onto the exo suit. The machine turned on. The lights, multiple holo screens, and wires lit the chamber as I sat on a chair in a really tight space.
'Well hello there, prey.' A voice in my head said.
I screamed and the machine lurched upwards.
