Enjoy!! Feedback would be awesome!
Oh also, in every chapter I'm going to upload a song that I think matches it. This is purely because I love music and when I imagine what happens in my stories there's often a soundtrack that goes with it :)
This chapter's song is Society by Eddie Vedder. It's off the soundtrack for Into the Wild, in which almost every song is seriously amazing.

Part of getting over it is knowing that you will never get over it ~ Ann Finger

It's funny how one little decision can change your life. Looking back, Jade couldn't believe that was all it took to slip through the cracks in her facade and break what she had so carefully constructed.
One minute she was just plodding along, going about her same old comfortable routine and then BAM, her whole world was turned upside down and inside out. Jade often wondered what would have happened if she had chosen differently that day. Would her life have been different? Would she have kept on walking through life with her eyes half closed, in a state of comfortable numbness?
Jade had no clue. All she knew was that this one little decision probably had more of an impact on her life than any other decision she'd ever made, except for one.
What was that decision you ask? To take the train home from university.
She wasn't going to either. Who in their right mind would choose to take the train when you're offered a lift from a friend? But at the last minute, Jade had decided to take the train. She'd felt like being alone, and even though she knew she shouldn't, she really wanted to play The Game again.
So there Jade was, pushing her way through a sweaty mill of people on the platform to make it to her favourite train carriage on time. It was hotter than Melbourne normally was in October, and the air seemed to struggle with so many people fighting to breathe it. The smell of sweat, suit fabric and mind-numbing exhaustion was making her head spin a little.
A sharp elbow jabbed her in the forehead as a super-tall hipster guy with too tight jeans and too big a shirt pushed in front of her. Jade growled softly, wishing she was tall enough to smack him upside the head. He did the same thing every day, every single day, and she wouldn't be surprised if she ended up with a permanent dent on her forehead.
"Never again." she muttered to herself like an insane person as she finally shuffled onto her carriage, sweat beading on her forehead and black hair in disarray, "I am never ever taking the train at peak hour again."
Yeah, right. She always took the train at this time because her favourite library was always quieter in the late afternoon. Also, it was part of her routine, and boy did Jade love routine.
Thank god her carriage was never full. It was right at the end so people could never be bothered trekking the whole...wait for it...15 meters to get there. The only people who travelled in this carriage were the ones who always travelled in this carriage; 'The Regulars' as Jade liked to call them.
Jade felt somewhat bonded to The Regulars. They travelled in the last carriage because they were all routine people, just like she was. They always took the train at the same time and sat in the same seats. It was reliable, safe, and they shared a connection.
Oh, who was she kidding. No one even looked at each other, like there were giant inpenetrable walls planted in between each and every one of them. Jade couldn't even begin to put into words how completely ridiculous the whole thing was.
