"Your home is a complete wreck...you could've at least cleaned the bathroom."

"Had I known I was going to have guests at 3 AM in the morning, I would have," you snap at your best friend Sammy. He rolls his eyes and starts helping himself to your formerly secret stash of candy in the kitchen cupboard. You snatch a bra off of the floor and throw it absentmindedly into the hamper.

"What do you want, Sammy? And before you ask, no you cannot crash here. I have friends coming over in the morning."

"To this mess?" Sammy remarks, waving his hand towards the pile of clothes on the floor of your living room. "Okay, I'll stop," he adds, catching the look of pure hate on your face.

"Thank you. Now why are you here?"

Sammy stops stuffing his face and slowly sets the half eaten pack of Skittles down onto the counter. You watch as his facial expression goes from playful to melancholy. His cheeks turn red and a tear slides slowly from his eyes. You want to wrap your hands around him, but you can't bring yourself to move. His face crumples slowly, and the tears fall faster down his cheeks, falling onto his RVCA shirt.

"She...she broke up with me," he whispers, choking up. You slowly walk towards him and place your thumb on his face, wiping his tears away. He sniffs and wipes his eyes on the hem of his shirt before shaking his head.

"I know what you're thinking. I shouldn't be crying. Real men don't cry...."

"Sammy, stop. You don't have to be strong all of the time. You don't have to be Superman. It's okay to show emotion."

He nods slowly and wipes his eyes some more. "I...I don't know what to do, Y/N. You know my biggest fear is being alone. This is all of my fault, I should have been a better boyfriend."

"You did nothing wrong, Sammy," you say firmly. "Some relationships fall apart for no reason."

"Still, I feel like I could have prevented this," he sobs, putting his face in his hands. "Shit. I'm such a pansy."

"Stop saying stuff like that. You loved her, and she broke your heart. You have every right to be sad."

"You don't get it, do you Y/N." Sammy stops and looks directly at you, his eyes narrowing. "I'm angry and sad, but not because I loved her. It's because I didn't."

"What are you tal-"

"I love you, Y/N, why have you not realized? I'm crying because I wasted two years on a girl I didn't even love. I thought that I would grow to love her, but I never did. I love you, Y/N, ever since we met ten years ago."

Your head begins to spin in confusion as you stare at Sammy towering over you. "What?"

"It's true. Every boyfriend you've had- Cameron, Gilinsky, Chase- I wanted to punch in the face and make them go away, but I couldn't."

"I've been making you wait for me."

"Exactly." Sammy sniffs and lets another tear fall down his face. "I've been waiting."

"Can I tell you something, Sammy?"

"Anything."

"I love you too and always have."
