"Hello again,"I say smirking. My brother has taught me well in the art of smirking. No one else can smirk quite like us.
My old fiancé smirks back,"No hello's? No kisses? Aw well I suppose you never did like me much."
His British accent has gotten thicker and it brings a scowl to my face. My fiancé's name is George and he is possibly the rudest man in the world. He immigrated here only a few years ago. George descends from royalty and my mother adored him. He was the one that beat me.
"Well you'se didn't give me much ta like,"I say standing up while rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
"I did a pretty smashing job in my opinion. You know you sound just like them now,"George says pacing around my apartment picking up our little trinkets disdainfully.
I smile taking a little bowl away from him,"Like who Georgie?"
"Like those street rat newsies I have seen you spending all your time with. You know today I took a lovely walk to the library to find a new book. Suddenly I see a beautiful young woman in street rat clothes. I had to see who it was. When I saw who it was I, of course, followed her home. She didn't live in a mansion anymore but in a small cheap apartment. You better start explaining,"he says grabbing my face aggressively.
That is how George acts to people. He is in charge of everyone and anything that he is around. I growl,"Let go a my face an I just might."
He lets go reluctantly swearing under his breath. I continue grinning since I have a small victory behind me now,"That wasn't so hard. My mother died a few weeks after you was out a the picture. My fatta couldn't look at me anymore. He sent me to live with my aunt and she left me to die. A couple a newsies found me and I've lived with them ever since."
"Foolish is what you are. You always could of come to one of your suitors,"George says waving around his small hand.
"Maybe I didn't wanna go ta one a my old suitors. They treat me like dirt and I didn't like them much in da first place. They wouldn't take me in neither. I suppose I don't have a penny to my name,"I say sitting on the sofa.
He sits beside me nervously playing with his thumbs,"I would have taken you in."
He pauses only a moment before touching my leg,"Remember that one time before you hated me."
"That time was da reason I do hate you," I say pushing his hand off of me,"Don't touch me. Why would I eva wanna live wit you after you did that?"
"The time was right for you."
"I am 16,"I say slapping him.
He grins wickedly,"And you were marvelous."
I pause as my mind goes into a vivid flashback to about 4 months ago.
*FLASHBACK*
"George, darling I don't think this is right... We should wait for marriage. We are engaged,"I say pacing around George's large bedroom nervously.
He takes me by both of my small fragile hands,"But Olivia, most women don't wait anymore. Especially the poor girls you admire so much. I have done this once before so I know exactly what to do. Besides it will hurt too much on our wedding night and you shouldn't be in pain on your wedding night."
"No George,"I say realizing he is like all those other men who have tried the same thing. I can see the switch in his eyes instantly. He goes from loving fiancé to a cold man. George is only two years older than me but he suddenly seems like all the older gentleman courters. Dangerous..
He growls grabbing my wrist,"I don't like being told no, darling. This is the time for you and this is going to happen..... Tonight."
I still refused as he started beating me profusely. It was the worst pain for a young rich girl to ever face. Then he started to follow through with his original plan. I tried my hardest to escape but he had tied my wrists to his bed and he had my legs covered. There was no way of escape.
After it was done I passed out in his bed trying not to think of what had happened. I could not forget. It was engrained in my brain. I told my mother the next day. She wouldn't of cared but there was a possibility of pregnancy and she didn't need a scandal on her hands. She didn't even punish me. That was the end of my innocence and George.
*FLASH FORWARD*
"I've changed my ways,"He says grabbing my face with his hands and planting a kiss right on my lips.
Compared to Davey, Race, and Morris the kiss is sloppy and disgusting. He obviously doesn't understand that tongue shouldn't be used to slobber with. I pull away slapping him again. He doesn't understand that I hate him for what he did.
"Could you just leave,"I ask wearily.
"I am staying until we repeat that night's events about 4 months ago,"He says growling suddenly.
As soon as he is about to try what he did so long ago Davey walks through the door looking upset. He sees George and also sees the look in George's eyes. He growls a little,"Who is dis Liv?"
"I'm her fiancé,"George says standing showing how tall he is.
I scowl,"Ex fiancé."
"Do you'se want him to leave,"he asks me not even looking at George. I nod enthusiastically.
George grins,"Maybe I don't want to leave."
"Well Liv an I both want you'se ta leave so you'se ah outvoted. So it would be wise ta get your cocky ass outta my home, now,"Davey says kicking George out the door while slamming it.
"For now he is gone an so is me fatta. You'se wouldn't believe what me fatta asked me foah,"Davey says sitting beside me on the sofa.
I frown,"Im guessing money."
He touches my leg in a sweet way instead of a harsh hinting way,"Wow you'se is pretty an smart. I told him no an then he just left. I think he realized dat he was bein a fool askin his son foah money again. I don't have any moah than he does."
"I'm sorry you didn't get to show me your boat very well."
"It's ok. I'll show ya in about a month,"He says nonchalantly.
A small whisper in my mind makes me shiver.
I won't be alive in a month.
