{11 years old}

"Mommy why I have to go" I said to my mother who was waiting to see if my bus was coming. I look up at her with my doggy eyes. She didn't look at me one bit. "Momma"

"Laura enough, your going to school" the bus finally came. Now I'm doom. This is my first day of my new school. I'm very shy, so that's why I don't want to go. "Ok baby girl, here's your bus" she smile. The bus driver open the bus door and stared at me.

"Hi little lady what's your name" she said. I didn't say nothing but just stand there.

"She's very shy" my mom said.

"It's ok, well get on, we gone be late to school" I took one step on the bus and the other. I look around the bus seeing other kids playing and talking. They all stop and look at me. I kept my head down sitting in the seat.

"Hi I'm Bella" this girl with an afro held her hand out.

"I-Im Laura" I shook her hand.

"Your new aren't you" she said.

"Yeah, I came from Philadelphia to Louisiana" I smile a bit.

"That's cool, what Philadelphia look like"

"It's beautiful, specially the murals in the poor part of the city"

"What they look like"

"I can't remember, but I can show you a picture of..."i was cut off when somebody snatch the picture from me. " hey that's mine"

"Give it back to her" Bella said.

"No, I want to see it also" the girl said. I was bout to start crying.

"Can I get it back, my dad gave me that before I left my home town" I said. She roll her eyes.

"No.."

"Give it back to her Ashanti" some boy said. I look at him in aww. He was so cute.

"I want to see the picture Odell" she said.

"So, your to nosey" he snatch it from her and gave it back to me.

"Thank" I mumble. Me and Bella continue to look at the picture and talk.

{Recess}

"So, what your mom look like Laura" me and Bella became friends on my first day of school.

"She have hazel eyes and short hair with Carmel skin" I said swinging on the swings. "Why you want to know about my mom?"

"Because, just asking, I can tell she pretty" I smile.

"She was" I watch Odell run with a football in his hands. Some boys was trying to catch him but he was to fast. "Wow" I mumble.

"What" Bella look at Odell. "Laura, he's taken"

"By who" I said.

"Ashanti" I thought he didn't liked her.

"Oh ok" I frowned.

"How was school Dumbo" my older brother said. We live in a small mansion with my mom. Only my mom.

"Shut up Prince" I walk up to my room. I don't have a phone like Prince have, so all I do is play with my dolls. My mom came in my room with something in her hands.

"Hi mommy" I said. She smile.

"How was school"

"It was fun, I met a new friend, her name is Bella" I smile.

"Ok, well we are having dinner with the Beckhams who live three houses from us" the Beckhams?

"And"

"And I want you to set up the table for mommy can you do that" I sigh.

"Fine"
