"What are we doing in the Forest of Tranquility?" Kam questioned, rather puzzled.
"Isn't this where the fire temple is?" Oliver asked. "Where the Sword of Fire was found by the red nin--"
"Shh!" Titus hushed them once he took notice of Sensei's silence.
"Each of you will catch something and bring it back here." He pointed to some weapons resting against a tree. "There are some weapons just in case."
"Cool!" Oliver cried, lurching for the sling shot.
"A sling shot?" Anthony said. "You've got to be kidding me. What are you, six?"
"Excuse me, Anthony," Oliver said. "But I believe that traveling lighter would result in traveling faster." He snickered and flicked his forehead.
"Hey!"
"Just cuz you're a newbie doesn't mean you get a special treatment." Kam smirked and soon afterwards laughed along with Oliver. Titus mutely took hold of multiple Kunai while Kam snatched up a dangerous looking Chigiriki. //Do your research people//
Anthony eyed the simple long bow on the ground and picked it up, observing it closely. He had learned how to use one of these from his brother.
"A bow, huh?" Sensei said, sounding awfully interested. "You know how to--"
"Alistair showed me when I was like, eight." Anthony cut him off, despising talking about his brother. "I sucked at it."
"You should teach Alexa." Sensei smiled. "Kunoichi are often experts at those sort of things." //Ay yo TMNT fans see what I did//
"Whatever." Anthony huffed as he threw the sling of several arrows across his back. "Are we going to start or what?"
"Ah," Sensei shook his head, as if to rattle away the distractions,"Yes, of course. Since it is dark, you'll have to remain vigilant. We begin in five minutes. Find your starting positions."
Kam and Titus nodded and the four teens ran off in their different directions. Anthony began to climb a tree, thinking he could get a better view from up there. He leaped from branch to branch and stopped when he was almost to the top.
He reached over his shoulder and cautiously pulled an arrow out and over him. He placed the arrow in the nock, ready to pull back any second, and waited as he watched the forest below him.
He relaxed his tense arms after many minutes (Which had felt like HOURS) of staring down. He sighed. This was stupid. Why was he doing this?Just because some random guy he met on the street promised he's see his brother again? Ugh. Ridiculous.
Then again, he is still here.
After Alistair left to go to the agency, a fire just appeared out of the blue. He and Alexa managed to escape but he heard Alistair's voice in the house, but it was too late to be saved. His body was never found and, assumed dead, was buried deep in the back of Anthony's head, to be thought of every day for years.
But if he's dead how could he--
Anthony unexpectedly saw a flicker of movement in the corner of his eye. He frantically recoiled back to his shooting position. No sight of anything. Maybe my imagination.
Then, a bird flew up from the trees and into the moonlit sky. Anthony smirked. "Ha! Who's the newbie now, Kam?" He aligned the arrow with the winged creature. The brown haired teenager relaxed his fingers holding the arrow back.
The arrow sprung forward and, before he could he blink, struck the bird.
Anthony felt a wild and warm sensation of triumph fill him as he saw the bird falling to the ground below it. He hurriedly climbed down the tree. Running as fast as possible, he heard the bird hit the ground with a painful sounding thud. He ran towards the sound. Finding a clearing he saw not a bird, oh no, but a man with an arrow embedded deep in his shoulder. Anthony stared, wide-eyed, and rushed over to the man.
He fell to his knees, the man's-more like boy's-face was twisted in pain, his right hand clutching at his injured left shoulder.
"Oh, crap." Anthony gasped.
This man--boy--person had somehow transformed into a bird, flew into the sky, and transform back into a human all in the same two-and-a-half minutes.
"Anthony!" Sensei's voice cried. Anthony turned, tears pricking his eyes.
"S-Sensei!" He said. "I-I'm sorry, I didn't--He was--I--"
"It's all right." Sensei nodded, joining his side. The injured male groaned, and met eyes with Sensei.
"Sensei," He breathed.
"Lionel," Sensei said, surprised. "Well, this isn't quite the way I wanted to meet you again."
"Ah!" He hissed at the pain. "Little help?" He winced.
"It's okay. I've got you." He smiled and wrapped his fingers around the arrow. He gave Anthony a warning glance, hinting him to turn away, which he soon did, and Sensei wrenched the arrow out, which had caused both Anthony and 'Lionel' to flinch.
"Okay," Sensei panted. "That's done."
"Ouch," Lionel rasped. "Yeah, okay, that hurts."
"We're taking him back to the monastery." Sensei said to Anthony. "He's an old friend of mine."
