Chapter 14

Everyone disappeared into their rooms. Amethyst went to Reys room to see if she was feeling better. She was sitting on the couch, Alistair was brushing his teeth.

"Hello wife number 2"

"Alistair." Amethyst rolled her eyes laughing slightly "Rey, how are you feeling?"

"She's not speaking." Alistair said. "She never speaks really not to me."

"Rey?" Amethyst said and kneeled down to hold her friend's hands.

Rey was just staring into space, trying to shut everything out.

"See what I mean?" Alistair asked.

"How are you feeling about things?" Amethyst asked

"How are you feeling about things?" Alistair instead asked her the same question smirking.

"Can you two flirt somewhere else?" Asked Rey.

"It speaks." Amethyst said and smiled.

Rey sighed. "I am tired"

"Leia wants to know what you think of a lemon nursery. Kylo is annoyed at me because Hux knew..."

"Hux was necessary." Rey said.

Amethyst sat down beside Rey. "I'm tired too. Can I stay with you and Alistair?"

"Sure." Rey said and rested her head on the shorter girls' shoulder. "Why are you so short"

"Shut up, that's why I wear heels" Amethyst laughed.

Rey smiled. "I feel so conflicted right now."

"Do tell us why." Alistair said and sat down on an armchair.

Amethyst shot him a look.

"Sorry continue, Rey." Amethyst said. "My husband number 2 is an idiot."

Rey laughed. "He's not really. He's really smart."

"Aww you two!" Amethyst uttered.

"I want to move out but I don't want to move out. I just sometimes it gets too much here but family is important to me and everyone in it. Even Kylo and I can't leave but sometimes...it's like it's crowded and it's too much and I'm a mess and... I'm coping even less now. Every time i go to a check up at the clinic... I get even more scary worries from my doctor about losing the baby."

"How many check ups you been getting?" Amethyst asked.

"One every day. The blood pressure... the anxiety attacks... everything..."

Rey started crying. "Why can't i be strong like you?" She asked and looked at Amethyst. "You have had hard times but... you've always been able to do what's right by your kids. For your friends. Family. I never get that right."

"Accidents happen." Amethyst said. "My babies were born early. But it turned out well. You can't control your mental health any better than you can control whether or not you wake up with a cold. I know more than anyone that... this family is tough. But we both know that you can't live without them either. I don't think I could. Kylo means a lot to me... he was there for me when I needed support. I know Alistair will be there for you and of course me."

"I'll go get you some tea. Camomile." Amethyst said and went to stand up. Rey touched her arms.

"Don't leave me." Rey said. "Please don't go."

"I'll be back. Promise." Amethyst said. "You need to talk to Alistair. And then we'll talk together when I get back."

"I take my tea regular." Alistair said to Amethyst.

"Good you can remember that when you go down later." Amethyst responded and left the room.

Alistair sat on the sofa next to Rey. "I'm sorry I left the dining room." he said. "I should have stayed with you."

Rey shrugged. "Like you had an obligation."

"I got a bit jealous that you told Hux first."

"Apparently you thought that I was going to give you a birthday party when Amethyst and I had just found out about this....and all.... I didn't want to let you down and I asked Hux and he wouldn't help. I told him to play the sympathy card. I wanted to tell you everyday. I did. But I made a deal with Amethyst and I didn't want to spoil it. It seemed like something that'd be nice but... everyday... As soon as I told everyone at dinner I was pregnant I regretted it because... I might not be pregnant tomorrow or even in an hour's time. I also didn't ask you if this was what you want.... I just... I had to make a choice and... it was a short amount of time. I didn't have parents. I was in an orphanage and I didn't want to give up my child... the way I'd been given up even if it was all an accident. To know that the situations I've brought upon myself, that I've gotten into accidentally... that all the messedupness of me.... Could kill my child... It's.. Horrible and it makes me feel worse. I just want to run away. It's just... It's just so..."

"Shhhh." Alistair hugged her and held her tight. "I'm not going to let anything happen to either of you okay. You've protected me for so long. Let me protect you. Let me protect our baby. The only doctor you need is me."

"So immodest." Rey said.

"Tomorrow we're get the first avaliable plane. And we'll go somewhere. Anywhere. We'll take Amethyst with us."

"Yeah. We'll take Amethyst with us." Rey said.

"And one of your polar bears." he said. "And we'll just stay in a hotel room and binge television. I know it's not productive but you do need to get away. Sometimes it's okay to get away."

The door opened and Amethyst walked in with tea for Rey. "Here we are." she said. "You're in my spot Alistair."

"I'm hugging my wife."

"Who is also my wife."

Rey laughed. "We're really still going with this?" Rey asked.

"Yes." They said in unison.
