"Newton's theory described Aether as a medium that was dense within objects and rare without them. As particles of the denser Aether interacted with the rare Aether they were attracted back to the dense Aether like cooling vapours of water are attracted back to each other form of water. This change is what causes the pull of gravity to take place, and allows an explanation for action at a distance, instead of action through direct contact."

"And that's gravity." I said, staring at Ben in wonder.

"Pretty much." he replied. "It's more complicated in long term though."

"Yes, of course." I relented. "Gravity isn't just the pull of a force, but the reaction of more and less dense Aether, that creates the pull back towards the dense Aether."

"I don't understand." Mackenzie said, staring at me in confusion.

"The Aether that's dense and the Aether that's not so dense combines and gets attracted back to the denser Aether, creating the pull of gravity."

"Oh, right." Mackenzie said. "That makes a lot more sense now."

"You still don't have a clue, do you?" I asked. She shrugged.

"Science isn't really my thing." she said.

"Does the force of gravity make more sense to you now, Eli?" Ben asked.

"Yeah, it does. I never quite understood how gravity is a pulling force." I smiled.

"Oh, look at the time!" Ben said suddenly. "You'd better get to lunch, or Wyatt will have my head."

"Okay, am I still coming back tonight to help with the..." I trailed off, glancing at Mackenzie. She just glared at me.

"Yes, if you don't mind." Ben said. "It's nice to have a new eye to look at the problem. Now go, or you'll be late!"

"Bye Ben!" I called over my shoulder.

"He really likes you." Mackenzie said.

"He just likes smart people." I said, sticking my tongue out at her.

"Smart people who climb on a really high brick wall to get a flag?" she challenged.

"Yes." I replied. "Those kind of smart people. The one who don't make it rain on the really high brick wall." she glared at me. We walked in silence for a long while.

"I never said thank you." Mackenzie said after a while.

"For what?" I asked, genuinely confused.

"Saving my life." she smiled at me. "Though it was your fault I was out there in the first place."

"Uh huh." I said. "You were the one that followed me."

"Well you shouldn't have gone out there in the first place."

"Well you shouldn't have let the flag fly away before that."

"That was you're fault."

"I was going to get the flag, before it went out the window."

"You are so immature!" she shouted at me.

"Oh, I'm the one who's immature." I said, because I knew it would annoy her.

"Yes, yes you are."

"I'm not immature. I'm like super mature. I'm mature man." I grinned at her. She sighed and rolled her eyes at me.

"You're not a man. You're six years and two foot short."

"Wow.  Now that was uncalled for." I said, smiling.
