I keep my eyes open, even though every ounce of my entire body wanted to scream and close them as tight as hell. Suddenly the growling stopped and I almost moved my arms, but I didn't, just in case. As soon as I let my guard down, something from the shadows catapulted itself into me, slamming into my chest at full force, knocking me backwards and making me fall to the ground. Panicking, I let out a bloodcurdling scream. I looked at the figure with my breath held. A small black cat had nestled itself into my chest. A hysterical laugh erupted from my mouth. All this time...a little black cat? The cat looked up at me, purring. It has a strange mark on it's forehead, deep gray-silver fur in the shape of a star inside of a circle was planted on the cat's head. How odd... The black fur ball had very large clear green eyes. I couldn't help but smile. Aww... the small cat mewed and looked up at me from my chest straight into my eyes, peering deeply into my hidden soul. I didn't know what the cat was trying to tell me, if anything, so I just shrug an d sit up. I curl the cat up in my arms so it is still cuddled against my chest, undisturbed. Female, the cat is female. I can't help but feel like squeezing the adorableness to my chest, but if I did that, she would most likely suffocate. I sigh.. I should probably give her back to her- "Mew.. I chose you!" A young girl's voice interrupts my thoughts. From the sound of it, she is probably barely teenage, maybe 13. I look behind and around me. Nothing. Nobody. Hmm... The cat squirms into my chest more making me blush. "No... Down here silly!" My brow furrows, confused, and slowly look down at the bundle of fur in my arms. The cat is looking straight up at me and seems as though she has a smug look on her face. "Yep, the kitty!" The cat speaks to me. My eyes widen and i jump backwards, dropping her in the process. She lands gracefully, unlike me who is on my now sore bottom. I looks at her, nothing going through my mind due to the shock. She pads up to me and sits elegantly, tail curled over her front paws. "I'm Naomi, but you can call me by my cat name Luna. I very much like both names, so I don't particularly care which one you progress to use." I take what she says in and keep quiet as she speaks in her adorable girl-like cat voice. "The mark I bare on my head is of my clan. The only clan which is magic is the clan in which I come from, the Midnight clan. You see, we choose our 'masters'. We tell them what is going on, and if we are accepted, we merge. the 'master' or human, would then gain cat ears, a tail, feline-like eyes,, and retractable claws disguised as nails." She licks her paw with great self-significance as I process what she is saying. "I very much do understand that this is a lot of sudden information to process, but would you at least consider my request, Nico-Ni?" She asks me this. I don't even need to consider it. I think to myself. "How did you know my name, Naomi..?" I ask cautiously before I give her my answer. "I have been studying you for a while. It is how I choose when, where, and how I shall approach you." She answers with finality after several silent moments.I nod. "I see. Now for my answer," she looks like she would say something, but interject, "I don't need to think, I love cats. i accept you, Naomi." I smile widely. She giggles, which is like half purring, half laughing. "Silly girl, I didn't mention the other things that come out of accepting a Midnight cat yet. Even though we are merged, I can unmerge us. I would still be at your side after unmerging. I can also get into your thoughts, read them. We also have a telepathic bond at all times, merge or no." She lists them, each one her tail flicks slightly. These don't sound too bad... I think to myself. "I still accept you Naomi." I say. She stands and jumps into my arms, burying herself into my chest. A sort of glow look appears where she is and gets brighter as she disappears. I look around. "Nyan?" I happen to say without thinking. My eyes widen and my tail wraps itself around my forearm, Wait..tail?! What?? My arms fly up to touch the silky black ears on the top of my head. Is this.. merging? I thin excitedly. I start to pur. I hear Luna in my head, "Yes, this is merging. I like this, it's exhilarating!" I can hear her purring inside my head. "This is so cool!" I say to her in my mind. I look behind me at my pitch black tail and watch it wave around. I walk back from work and this happens to me... I'm glad I went to work today! I think to myself, not caring if Luna heard me. I jog back home, hoping my sister doesn't notice I'm late from work.
