Please excuse any mistakes or annoying brevity. I wrote this on my phone but plan to edit once I'm in front of my computer. Thanks, enjoy.

"You think my dad will be happy once he finds out?"

Mayla shook her head and ignored me, keeping her eyes closed as she chanted over my mother's body. Every second since we first casted the spell, her skin was aging and body developing to one of someone who'd actually be her age. No more was the picture of the eighteen year old girl hanging above the mantle in my grandfather's sitting room. Instead, this was a woman. One that my father talks about all the time and to this day still smiles at the mention of her name.

"Chad!"

My eyes widened at the sound of my name echoing through the woods. I knew it was Demetri but not even he could be trusted with this information.

I opened my mouth to get Mayla out of her trance but, in that very second, my mother took in a scratchy breath and opened her crystal blue eyes to a world she hasn't seen in twenty years.

Mayla smiled but the expression was soon wiped off of her face when Demitri shouted my name again.

"Take her to the cabin across the river," I whispered.

"Ok," she nodded, "but if anyone asks, I went out to the pack to collect some of my things." She groaned because that was a stupid excuse. She gathered her materials and with much strength picked my semi-conscious mother and had her on her shoulder. "I don't know, Chad. Think of something," she smirked, "and make it good."

I smiled back and got to my feet, running towards Demitri's voice. Once I had my eye on him about forty yards away, I used my strength to push my legs fast and jump on his back, knocking him to the ground in a matter of seconds.

"Looking for me," I whispered in his ear, giggling at the sound of the reath escaping his mouth.

He groaned and rolled over so he was crushing me under him. "Okay, I quit," I wheezed out, not able to take his heavy body smothering mine.

He rolled off of me and smiled down at me. "Where have you been, everyone's looking for you."

I couldn't lie to him. He was the greatest most loving guy and I was in love with him. Plus, he's my mate so lying would be impossible due to its quick detection.

"Oh, you know, just roaming around getting into trouble. The usual," I grinned.

He leaned down and kissed me, "Yeah, I know."

"So what did you want?"

"Oh, your dad wanted everyone to meet at the pack grounds so we can go over some new rules."
I rolled my eyes , "and he wonders why we've bred Rebels."

Demitri rolled his eyes and rose to his feet. "Don't say that."
"It's true," I argued, "people are rebelling against the clan left and right because of his obvious favoritism towards the pack. Ever since my grandpa died ..."

"Chad, that had nothing to do with your father or the Rebels."
I scoffed, "You don't think so?"

"And you do ?" He argued back.

I shook my head and rose up with him. "We have somewhere to be right?"

He studied me closely, trying to figure me out, before grabbing my hand and leading me outside the woods.

The autumn leaves crunched under our feet with each step we took. Twigs snapped and plants shifted beneath is as we made our quiet trek back to the clan house.

"Aghhhh!"

I froze and Demitri snapped his head towards the lake when we both heard the throaty scream.
