Her skilled hands roamed across my torso which nervously rattled under my shaky breaths.
“Calm now, Annie” she demanded, pressing the palm of her hand against my heart. She slowly brought it down to my stomach and froze.
“You hear it?”
“Hear what?”
“The heart beat.”
“What heartbeat.”
She opened her eyes and her hazel ones pierced my blue. “Stupid boy and silly you. You’re pregnant.”
I stumbled for words to say. Finally chocking out, “Like..with a baby.”
She tugged my shirt down and told me to sit up. “What have I told you about your virginity?” she practically yelled at me.
“T-to save it.”
In that moment I felt like my old self. Since I met Dean I’ve become a whole new person. I’ve been confident, I talk more than I used to, I actually smile.
But now there’s only one word I can use to describe myself.
Pregnant.
Don’t forget stupid, a voice inside my head snapped at me.
Yes, stupid.
“And why didn’t you?!”
“He…I…I wanted a-a change, take a risk.” I was beginning to despise that word.
“Yeah! Risk your life!”
“My life?”
“Do you not understand what this means? This baby is a hybrid, the strongest and fastest of our kind. They are only made when a wolf is injected with vampire venom but…”
“But what?”
“No one’s ever birthed one. With your youth and the rapid development of this child…It can kill you.”

I was pacing my room, a habit that’s now been planted deep in my head.
I’m panting and for some reason, my hand drifted to my stomach.
“Oh god” I breathed.
Dean was supposed to be here today—at this moment— and I had to tell him.
What would I say? Where would I start?
I can hardly be responsible for myself, and now a baby?
In my clan, a birth is within a marriage and very sacred because us born-vampires don’t come often. We are the ones that lead clans and breed but most births lead to the baby’s fatality.
A hybrid.
I’ve never heard that word in my life, or even becoming pregnant at my age, but what do I know? I never even knew what a werewolf was until a few days ago.
A few days.
Wow, that’s how long it took me to meet a boy, practically fall for him and become pregnant.
It can kill you
I’ve never seen her so serious, so scary, in my life. She gets under my skin with each word but it still feels like it hasn’t sunk in. Maybe after I die I’ll finally know what she means. Don’t think like that!
A thump from outside my window makes me jump and stops my pacing. I see Dean and bite at my lip to keep it from tumbling as I go to open the window.
