"No more, I don't like it" I breathed out, coughing up the thick blood.

"You're going to shift soon and you need this to help the process" Natalia said.

I moaned and turned away from her on my bed. "Leave, I just want my dad."

"Dean has done all he can to help you and you keep turning him down. What makes you think this will be different?'

"I promise I'll listen this time just please, Nat."

She sighed and nodded, "Alright, but you need to move to the guess bedroom. You know he can't come in here."

Oh yes, the cursed room. I roll my eyes and huff out my frustration.

"Don't be like that" Nat scolded, "You know this used to be your moms room and he can't handle being in here."

"I didn't mean it like that" I shook my head, "He's just so afraid to do certain things and it's keeping him from moving on. He thinks I don't see it but I do."

"He misses her and everyday he has to live out a part of his life that she was supposed to be a part of...and she's not."

"I know" I whispered, running my fingers through my overlong inky black hair.

"I'll call him and I'm sure he'll be here as soon as he can."

I nooded and left out of the room to the guest room down the hall, the one across from Natalia's.

Grandfather gave me a gruff greeting as I passed his door but that was his usual. I closed the door and sat on the bed, messing with the tips of my hair.

Just the thought of my dad coming has me thinking of my mom. The fact that I've never met her has me drawing a blank. I've seen pictures and dad says she's the one that named me. She met my dad by the river I was named after.

She was beautiful and I leave every now and then to her grave. I go by myself so I can tell her things and ask questions even though there's no answers.

"Chad?" I heard dad's voice from the other side of the door. "Come in" I called, flattening my hair and wiping my sweaty hands on the bed spread.

He opened the door and I ran up to him and wrapped my arms around his waist. He lightly chuckled and hugged me back. "I just saw you a few hours ago."

"I know..."

"What's the matter?"

I sighed against his chest, "I don't want to shift..."

He held me a bit tighter and kissed my head, "And why not?"

"I'm scared."

He pulled away and held me by the shoulders, piercing my blue eyes with his hard green. "I was scared too but after the first time I learned that there's nothing to be afraid about."

"But you are meant to shift. I'm only half of what you are."

"You are so much more powerful than you give yourself credit for. Your shift will go perfectly fine. Mayla and Mara both said so."

"And they both said they can possibly bring mom back but that hasn't happened" I snapped, glaring up at him.

He let me go and ran his hands through his hair, huffing out in frustration.

"I didn't mean that..."

"You have no filter" he shamefully laughed.

"Dad-"

"It's alright. Just...just give me a minute." He turned and left out of the room.

"Dammit" I cursed under my breath. I've never said something so rude to my father and I've never talked back to him.
