I arrive at the deli 20 minutes early and just sit in my car, pondering upon different scenarios on how this could play out. I take a deep breath and walk in. He comes up and hugs me tightly. "I'm so glad you made it home safe, I... we were worried." He said quietly. He pulls away, I give him a kind smile. We sit down without even ordering. After a minute or two of silence I blurt out. "What's her name?" Mikey leaned back in his chair and let out a small sigh. "Rachael... Lela, I'm not here to talk about her. I want to talk about us, What happened last night?" Mikey asked. "I don't know M" I replied. "Stop it. Stop putting up walls. Talk to me." he prodded. "What do you want me to say?" I questioned loudly. After another minute of silence "You're hopeless." he replied. Annoyed. Exhausted from trying to break down my barriers... again. I left. We were nothing. Yet it feels like he ripped my heart from my chest. I walk past my car, past the street, I just keep walking.
