Waiting.

Slight icy spikes

pierce me as I stand here,

waiting...

Who shall come,

I do not know.

I just wait here,

in the mist.

Streetlights fill me with

warmth,

love,

hope.

Here in the rain,

I wait.

The small white dome I carry

protects me outside,

but not in.

Only a sliver if hope,

I stand and wait,

in the glistening rain.

My purse grows heavy

with a note I've commit to memory.

I wait for them to return

but I am left in the drizzle

waiting.

Th hope flickers out,

but still I wait,

forever trapped

in the warmth of the streetlights.

For everything else is wistful.
