A watermelon is 92% water!
Also, it's getting close to summer, so if you go to buy a watermelon (or if you grow them yourself), you can tell if it is ripe a few ways. ☀️
1) On a watermelon's underside it has a 'field spot', which is in contact with the ground throughout its growth. If it had a yellow colour then it's ripe. If it's white, it isn't. (This one and the second one are ways to tell at a store or on the vine)
2) If you knock on it with your knuckles (kinda like rapping on a door) a ripe watermelon will have a hollow sound, an unripe watermelon will have a higher sound, and an overripe one makes a lower sound.
3) If you smell a watermelon and it smells slightly sweet it should be ripe! Make sure it doesn't smell too sweet because that could mean it is overripe. You should also pick up the melon so it isn't right by the others or you could be smelling other watermelons instead. (Only works at stores as far as I know, but maybe it works on the vine?)
Sorry for all the watermelon tips but they work pretty
well from experience. 🍉
