Dogs

1) In a recent study of 15 dogs, it showed that 13/15 of them prefer human praise to dog treats.

2) Dogs can only see in black and white...right? No! Dogs do see in colour, however, they don't see it as vividly as how we see it.

3) The (1) Border Collie, (2) Poodle, and (3) Golden Retriever are believed to be the smartest dogs!

4) The Afghan Hound is (unfortunately) the least smart.

5) Pregnancy for a dog lasts for about 60 days.

6) Dog hearing is 10 times better than human hearing.

7) Don't give your dog chocolate! It can kill them or make them very ill because it has theobromine in it (it's similar to caffeine).

-Avocado
-Baby food – Baby food by itself isn't terrible (just make sure that there's no onion powder or anything)
-Cooked Bones

-Cat food
-Citrus oil extracts
-Coffee
-Corn on the cob
-Fat trimmings
-Fish – The fish that you need to be careful about are salmon and trout. Raw salmon can be fatal to dogs, but if it's cooked it is fine.
-Grapes and raisins

-Human vitamins
-Liver
-Macadamia nuts
-Marijuana
-Milk and dairy products
-Mushrooms
-Onions and chives – No matter what form they're in (dry, raw, cooked, powder, within other foods). These are also bad for cats.
-Persimmons, peaches, and plums

-Salt
-String – While not a food itself, foods can often contain or be similar to string (ie. meat you've wrapped for the oven)
-Sugar – (This applies to any food containing sugar)
-Tobacco
-Xylitol – (A sugar alcohol found in gum, candies, and baked goods)
-Yeast (on its own or in dough)

11) Dogs pant because it helps keep them cool.

12) The biggest dog breed is the Irish Wolfhound.

13) Most dogs unfortunately don't like being hugged. It makes them feel very anxious.

14) Many people believe that hyenas are more like dogs.  They are actually more like cats!

15) Your dog can smell feelings! they can pick up on little changes in your scent. Say you're nervous and maybe sweating a little, a dog can smell that and figure out what you're feeling.
