Nathan woke me again around 10:32am.I dragged him down on the couch with me when I realized he somehow slipped away, and he landed on me with a big oof, his weight sprawled onto on me.
He didn't feel heavy, and I sighed comfortably, clutching onto his arm in response.
"I say get up, and this is your response?" He huffed, struggling to get back.
I nodded, clutching harder, "No, stay. You're really warm." He was, and I was comfortable as he struggled, before I pouted.
"You're adorable, I'll give you that, but come on, we have to go out and get your stuff." I sighed, sitting up and pecking a kiss to his cheek before pushing him off and getting up, going to the kitchen.
"On your left." I turned my heel, going the other direction.
"I knew that."
"I'm sure you did." He snorted, and I got into the kitchen, searching for cereal through all the cabinets and the pantry.
"Where is your cereal?" I yelled, and he came into the room, rolling his eyes.
"Top left cabinet." I put my hands on my hips.
"I already looked there." He pushed himself off the counter and went to a high cabinet, reaching his hand inside and pulling out a box of Lucky Charms.
He turned slowly, shaking the box.
"Ta da." I glared, snatching the box.
"Jackass." He chuckled at my insult and grabbed a bowl from a different cabinet.
"Here." I took the bowl and made cereal, pouring in the milk as Kelsey came in the kitchen, looking adorable as ever.
Her onesie was large on her, and her hair frizzed on one side, the other flat. Her big baby doe eyes were wide with sleep, and her mouth pouted as she rubbed her eyes.
"Hey sweetie." I whispered softly, and she came up to me wordlessly, hugging my thighs.
I rubbed her back, watching her yawn.
"Morning sleeping beauty." She smiled slightly and Nathan handed her a bowl of cereal I didn't know he made.
"Go eat breakfast, yeah? We're going to go get our stuff and come back here when you're done." Slowly, she left and hopped up on the bar stool across from me.
"I love you." She whispered sleepily, and I leaned over the counter, my heart aching.
You'll be safe now.
"I love you too." I murmured, kissing her forehead.
"I won't let anybody hurt you." I said afterwards, and she wavered a smile, somehow looking older.
"I know."
The morning was quiet as we all ate, and dread started filling my stomach, an uneasy feeling that made my gut clench.
What if my dads there?
We'll go another time, or just not go at all. It's not like we had the much stuff to get anyway, except for clothes and toiletries.
