"Yeah... His heartbeat slowed down a bit... Pepper said he was a bit... Vulnerable. Believe me, his powers could be as strong as yours." Lacer said.
"But?..." I said anxiously.
"He needs his rest. For an hour or two. Aren't you moving on yet? You've stayed here for days..." Lacer said. "Weeks in fact."
He wipes his glasses smugly again probably trying to test my emotions and control.
"Not. Until. My. Best friend's. Better." I said I pointed a finger at his chest. "No. Until."
"Be my guest." He shrugged. Then looked somewhat guilty. " And I mean it. Scipes is staying at Pepper's since she wants to stay here to watch him." Lacer said. "She's beside that room. Down the hall." Lacer pointed out.
I walked through the silent, dark, and lonely corridor. The only sound that rang in my ears were the echoes of my footsteps.
Until...
"You finally learned about love haven't you?"
"My... Little pupil..."
His laugh rang and echoed through my ears and I had a feeling as if he was right behind me. Guilt crept up on me while I was walking towards her room.
Feeling more guilt and despair with every step.
Flaubert... Don't mess with my brain. I'm going in. When I entered, I saw that she was sobbing quietly.
"I'm... Very sorry Pepper..." I told her I held on and hugged her arm.
"You have done many mistakes in this unpleasant form. Yet, I still have at least a little faith in you." She said wiping the tears from her eyes and trying to show a smile.
"I'm really sorry. You know I am..." I told her.
She held onto my hand.
"You will... Set our kind... Free... Right?..." She told me.
"Of course... I will... Friends, enemies and all..." I told her.
"When you do... And I'm... Not there..." She tried to say.
"Look, Pep, Accidents happen. I won't even try to destroy you. Look, my emotions fuel my power now. It's really destructive... Now..." I said. "I'll... We'll ... Fix this... Somehow..."
"I blame Lacer for this. You never would've gotten out of hand if it hadn't been for him." Pepper said crying again.
"Look... This will be controlled soon." I told her.
"You know what... I actually had an eensy weensy crush on him." Pepper said in her almost-normal kinda voice.
"Yeah, same here... Your brother... He's surprisingly... I dunno..." I rubbed my chin. "He softened me up one."
"You actually like him?! Nothing against that. He actually almost admitted that in the willowed area." She said. "He likes you, you like him. This is destiny!!!"
She squealed. I saw a faint glimpse of blue in front of the door and the door was immediately was surrounded in rainbows and I gestured for it to open. Sweet upgrade?...
Telekinesis?...
Sam was standing still. Blushing in the face.
"Sam!!!" I hugged him tight. I didn't want to let go. I felt the tears run down my face and at the same time I felt soooo happy. And soooo relieved.
"You're alive!!! I'm just so sorry!!!" I told him still hugging him.
Surprisingly, he slowly hugged me back and cried himself.
