About 1 week after Light's death, Misa found out she was pregnant with Light's child. Misa promised herself that she would wait to kill herself after the baby was born. 9 months later, she gave birth to her son. She killed herself shortly after that. The orphaned child was shuffled from foster home to foster home. This boy inherited his fathers intelligence, and ended up at an the orphanage, Wammy's house. This child is the top student at the orphanage and is now currently being trained as Near's successor.
