*Liam's POV*
I rushed into the cafe, more than happy to escape the heat outside, and breathed in the chilled coffee scented air. I was meeting Louis and Bekah there, Bekah having sent me twenty messages this morning insisting there was "major urgent business to be discussed". I was the first there so I slid into the nearest booth and ordered iced coffee for us all. Not even two minutes later Bekah plopped down next to me, flicking her lavender hair off her shoulder.
"Hey kid, hot as balls out isn't it?" She fanned herself with a menu.
"Tell me about it," I agreed.
The waitress placed down our drinks and I wasted no time in diving into the bitter, refreshing drink.
"Perfect," Louis said as he sat down across us, placing the cup against his forehead.
"So," I turned to Bekah. "What's this super important business that forced me out of bed so early?"
"It's noon, dear."
"That's early," Louis and I said at the same time.
Sighing, she placed down her coffee, leaned forward, and overdramatically whispered. "Operation: Niall's Surprise Birthday Party."
"Niall's having a surprise birthday party?" Louis asked.
"Not that he knows of, genius," Bekah rolled her eyes. "We are planning one for him." She gestured to the three of us.
"I hope you do realize that my party planning skills are about equal to my cooking and singing skills, which is to say: shit." Louis pointed out.
"Oh, stop. As if I won't have everything under control. I just need you two to do what I tell you and left heavy things. Besides you both can take credit for the whole thing."
"Score," I said.
She reached in her bag and pulled out a pad of paper and a pen.
"Date?"
"What?" I asked.
"For the party. When should we have it? God, I swear you're still asleep." She clicked her pen impatiently.
"Oh, right, uh." I looked at Louis for help.
"Well, his birthday is next Saturday? And you know he does something with his mom every year on his birthday, so the day before?" Louis suggested.
"Ookay, next Friday. Where?"
"We can have it at my house, my parents aren't going to be home next week, besides they don't care if I have parties while they're gone," I offered.
"Oh, right. Mr. Popular's used to having parties all the time," Bekah teased. "Um, I'll cover food because there's no way I'm trusting either of you on that. And I'll do decorations too, because God knows you two would find a way to mess that up. Well, actually Lou you could help me with that. Just don't touch any staple guns, we don't need a trip to the hospital like last time--"
"Excuse me, in case you forgot, you were the one who stapled my hand," Louis interrupted.
"Minor details, love," Bekah waved him off. "Now, let's see. Liam you can cover music, come up with a decent play list. Oh, and guests." She turned to me. "Louis and I, even though he's dating Harry, are still losers. We don't have any friends, so you're in charge of getting people to know. Work your popular magic crap and make sure people come."
I shook my head. "I'm really not that popular," I began.
"Louis, be a dear and explain to Liam here how that is utter bullshit," Bekah said as she scribbled things down on her paper.
