Chapter Nine. ✔️

Ruby's POV

It's been two weeks. Two weeks without him. Two weeks and countless dead ends. I've been across the country twice with no strong leads. Until now. I had to kill another man to get this information. I've killed more werewolves in these two weeks than I usually do in two months. But I regret nothing. Hidden Falls in Oregon, that's where my mate is. I've felt him being beaten, I've felt him being almost killed. Every time, I know that they're taunting me. Trying to make me feel useless, and they're succeeding. They've helped turn me into the Queen of Bloods, the original. But now I'm worse. I'm an angry alpha she-wolf and they have my mate. But I'm broken, I'm cutting, I've even attempted suicide, a nearby citizen stopped me though. I'm depressed and angry. I'm broken. I can barely even think clearly if I'm honest.

Ring. Ring. Ring. I look at the caller ID number. Kendall, my twin, the one who's been leading the pack that my mate loves.

"Hello?" I pick up. This is the first time I've talked to him since that day.

"Ruby, we know where he is. Hidden Falls it's in Oregon." Kendall says. I sigh.

"I know."

"How are you? I saw the video, we all did. Are you going crazy? What happened to being strong? What happened to being good?" Kendall asks. I sigh and close my eyes. I can't. I really can't.

"I can't do this Kendall."

"I have not heard a peep from you in two weeks! I heard you've been killing again! I saw you try to kill yourself! What are you thinking? Are you trying to torture us?" I was laying down in my beloved truck but after that I shoot up.

"Oh yeah? They've been torturing him. I have felt it. I feel him being whipped. I feel him almost die time and time again! If you think you can tell me what to do at a time like this, then think again." I snap at him.

"Look, I know it's hard, but-" I interrupt him.

"Don't, just don't." I sigh, tired.

"Fine, so you going?"

"Yeah."

"Met you there Ruby stay safe." He laughs.

"That seems impossible for me." I retort. I hang up and feel the tears in my eyes again. I feel the whip. I scream in pain as I feel the leather against my back.

Give up already weakling! It's all your fault! Just die already! Luke is dying and you're just sitting on your lazy butt while he gets beat day after day! Just die already! It's all your fault! You could've killed them if you stayed up a little longer! You don't deserve Luke! You're a useless piece of trash! That's why you need a man to protect you.

"SHUT UP!!" I scream holding my ears but it only makes it worse. They're louder now. Then I hear an angel like voice.

"Ruby get up! It's not your fault! You're not the one who took him Jonathan did! Fight it Ruby! I know you can! You're my hero! You saved me and hundreds of others! Don't become the monster Jonathan thinks you are! Come on fight it! I know you can! Be brave! BE MY HERO!" I look up and see light.

"Who's there?"

"I'll tell you once it becomes important, right now go save your mate!"

Luke's POV

2 weeks I've been in this cell. They beat me, they whip me, they do anything to inflict any kind of pain. A week ago they showed me a video of my precious little angel almost throw herself off a building. I feel every time she's injured. I'm a terrible excuse for a mate, can't even help my angel.

"Want to watch the video again Luke?" The man who's been my torturer asks. "You know, you should be honored to be in the Rouge King's presence. The fact that it is I who is your punisher is remarkable." Jonathan pulls up the video and shows it to me. Every time I flinch or respond he whips me.

"You claim to love her, but you don't show any emotion for her. You don't love her, I do. Do you even know her favorite color, do you know the name of her little sister?" He yells but I'm just tired. The chains binding me silver and the air has wolves bane so I'm weak.

"I love her more than you ever could you filthy packer! You don't deserve Ruby, she's mine!" He cuts my shoulder with a silver knife. "They'll never save you, Ruby will come alone. She won't risk the lives of others. Then we'll have the fight. I'll kill her quickly so she won't feel any pain. I love her enough to do that."

"She'll slaughter you. You hide behind weapons and an army, she uses her strength and her mind. You'll be the one dead." I look him in the eyes and spit in his face. He slits my wrists. I laugh insanely causing him to look at me crazy.

"What are you laughing about?" I bite his nose and sink my wolf canines into his neck after he falls forward. He pushes me away after I let him go. "I told her y'all were all crazy. This is proof!" He points to his neck. If he was human he'd be dead but he's not and I'd have to squeeze his neck harder to kill him. But only a millimeter. He stumbles out clutching his neck. "Make him pay." He demands a group of men, they nod their head in response. They beat me but I don't feel regret. He wants to kill her, I won't allow it. I'm holding back, if I could I'd kill him. But this isn't my domain. If I kill him, I wouldn't have the strength to escape and they'd keep coming.

When did you get so wise? Mason asks.

Too much time in my head leads to too much self reflection. How are you Mason? Haven't heard from you in a while. I mentally say to Mason.

Such little faith Luke. I blocked by the wolves bane, but with that adrenaline rush I'm back in business kid.

I missed you Mason.

I missed you too kid. Now we have to wait for Ruby and Alexa. And in case you were wondering, that's her wolf's name.

I want to help her. But I can't get caught in all of this and make it worse for Ruby. What did she ever see in that guy? I scoff to my wolf. He laughs and I smile.

Now we need to be patient. She's nearly here.
