Chapter Four.✔️

Ruby POV

We got to the school thirty minutes before lunch began. So I'm in the library. I heard all the rumors that were told explaining why I wasn't here; I was kidnapped, I moved to Canada, I was killing someone, I was too scared of the to show my face, and my personal favorite: I was wrestling a shark for another tooth necklace. I smirked every time they asked and asked, "Well, what do you believe?" Then they gasped.

I'm going to have lunch with Luke's friends, they're all from his pack. I'm nervous that they'll hate me once they know who I am, but they'll just have to deal.

"Hi, I'm Charlotte, but everyone calls me Charlie. I was hoping that you could help me." A short girl with ribbons in her ginger hair, wearing a green tank top under a little white wrap, dark jeans, and white flats. She looks adorable.

"I'm Ruby and sure what can I do for you?" I ask as I smile at her.

"I was wondering what's good, I haven't read any of these and you seem so in tone with this whole place....." She says as she smiles at me. "I like romances, syfy, and fantasy."

"Then you'd read the Lunar Chronicles. They're a mix of all of those." I say as I give her the first book, Cinder. She reads the description and looks at me in awe when she's done.

"THIS IS PERFECT!" She says as she gives me a killer hug. I hug her back. Then the lunch bell rings.

"Can I sit with you? That is if it's not too much trouble, I don't have any friends." I nod as she checks out the book and sets it in her bag. On the way we talk about lots of stuff we like. When we get to the cafeteria we go to the lunch line where I'm bowed to a few times.

"Why did they call you Queen?" Charlie asks as I look for a table for us to sit at.

"Be-" I'm cut off when a pair of arms grab me and pulls me to the owner's chest. "Hey Luke,"

"Hey princess, did you forget your promise to sit with me?" Luke lets go only to put his arm around my waist.

"Oh my gosh, Ruby why didn't you tell me you had a mate?" Charlie asks as she jumps in front of us and gives a pouty face.

"I thought I told you. Well Charlie this is my mate Luke, he's the Alpha of the Shadow Moon Pack. Luke this is my adorable little friend Charlie, we met like an hour ago." I introduce them. Charlie looks from me to Luke until she comes out of shock and curtsies.

"No need to curtsy. Come on you can join us." Luke smiles at her. We walk to the table with everyone staring. Charlie looks uncomfortable so I give her an encouraging smile. Charlie stiffens and smells the air. She smiles as her eyes go wide.

"Go get 'em tiger" I say to Charlie. She sets down her tray at an empty table and follows the scent.

"Mine!" Kendall growls looking at Charlie. Charlie runs to him and Kendall literally picks her up and gives her a kiss on the forehead. He's grinning like a fool. I start clapping for my friend and twin, within seconds everyone joins me, clapping for the couple. I whoop for Charlie as she goes cherry red and buries her face in my brother's chest.

Luke pulls me closer and we continue to the table, everyone settling down, and Charlie gets her lunch. When we get to the table everyone is looking at me expectedly. "Everyone, this is my mate, and Kendall's long lost twin, Ruby." They smile at me and start introducing themselves.

"Wait I'm guessing y'all haven't mated yet because you smell rouge, no offense." A blonde girl who's name is Sandy if I remember correctly.

"That's not me, yesterday I was challenged by a rouge. It takes forever to get out of my hair." I explain, the boys look at me knowingly.

"You going to tell them?" Luke asks me.

"Tell us what?" Luke's sister Violet asks.

"Many of you probably know me as the Queen of Bloods." I look at their shocked expressions. Charlie looks at me, once again in awe.

"You're the Queen of Bloods?" She asks hopefully. I nod. "You saved my life, you probably don't recognize me. I had blue hair, pink glasses, and braces. You saved me from those men who tried to murder me and my friends." I remember her instantly. I killed those men when I saw them try to kill a group of kids. I had just gotten a few people on my side. I was just going home from visiting Lucy and Michael.

"The queen truly is a good person as they say." Shellie said.

"Thanks, I guess." I say unsure. Luke squeezes my hand reassuringly making me smile at him.

"Well, I've been needing to tell you guys that I found my mate, my mate is also rouge. There's something I need to tell you guys before you meet my mate." The boy Josh says, he takes a deep breath. "My mate is named Kai and Kai is a-a guy." He looks down looking ashamed. Most of them cringe or looks disgusted.

"That's nothing to be ashamed of. It's just another way that makes you unique. If you love him then who cares? As they say, do what makes you happy." I reassure him. When he doesn't respond I grab his chin and force him to look at me. "Don't be ashamed to be who you are or to be inlove." Everyone looks at me in shock as I release Josh. Once again, there's clapping. A boy who had bowed to me earlier, came running to Josh. He was crying tears of joy.

"Thank you Luna, I can tell you're made for the job." Josh says as he runs off to his mate.

"Thank you my queen," I look at Kai curious.

"Why?"

"You got him to show affection to me in public. And for having faith in us. I don't know anyone else who would ever stand up for us. It's also an honor to have my queen bless us." Kai smiles as he and Josh come to our table to sit.

"Of course," I smile, "and please, call me Ruby."

"Okay Queen Ruby." I internally groan.

Time skip. At the pack house

"Are you sure I should be here, we have literally only known each other for two days." I say as we start going to Luke's room. When he doesn't reply I turn to look at him. He's eyes are glassy, he's either daydreaming or mind-linking.

I think it's the second one, he's not smiling. I look at him he has a grim expression. I hug him closer on reflex.

"I have to meeting that I need to go to with some neighboring Alphas. Go ahead and wait in my room. It'll be quick." Luke says as he kisses my forehead and goes off. I walk into his bedroom, then I see a tall blonde woman, sitting on Luke's bed in almost nothing.

"Hello I think you're lost," I say politely even though I want to kill her.

"No I'm here to have another round with Luke. Where is he?" She asks as she inspects her nails. "I had so much fun the other day I wanted to come back." I feel the tears wanting to be released but I turn away and go outside. I call Amajae, "Hey, mind if I crash at your place?"

"Of course." She says as sobs rip free from my throat. I go behind a tree, strip, tie my shirt and undies to my thigh, and shift. I'm pushed out of control by the furious and betrayed Alexis. I cry inside, I didn't think he was like that.

We run to the Blue Lack Pack, where Amajae lives with her mate, Dane. When I get there I'm tackled by Amajae's reddish brown wolf. I shift and head back with her.
