Chapter 3 ;

Blaze was drunk, and it was almost two in the morning. I really needed to get home. I go downstairs to find Blaze laying on the kitchen table passed out. I was frustrated at this point. I needed a ride home. I stomped out the kitchen and almost ran into Katie. "Not so fast!" Katie smiled as she was going to grab he coat by the front door. "Sorry, my ride fell asleep" I said to her with an un easy smile. "We'll I've got more than enough room, come on!" She said picking up her jacket from the coat rack.

I opened the door for her and she smiled at me and walked out. "Brr, it's chilly out here" Katie said as she huddled closer to me. "Here, have my jacket!" I said as I took off my jacket to place it over her shoulders. She looked up at me and smiled. Her dimples showed as she shined her white teeth at me. I opened up her door for her and I walked over to the other side and got in. She turned up her heat and turned on the radio. One of my favorite Halloween songs were playing. "This is Halloween this is Halloween pumpkins scream in the dead of night!!" Katie started singing along and laughing. I laughed along with her, it was a good moment.

"So, where do you live?" Katie asked. "1267 Small Farm Lane" I answered. She continued to drive down the road an not say a word. "Thanks for the ride" I said "I really do appreciate it." "Oh , it's no problem at all!" She answered "Glad I could help you" and she smiled at me. I was so nervous around her. I didn't want to say anything wrong. "Hey, are you really going to do that dare ?" She asked and I laughed and said "I never back down from a dare" and I winked at her. "Well, I can help you find your costume and stuff like that! I'm sure you will make a gorgeous girl" Katie winked back at me. "Like you ?" I asked. She just looked at me and blushed.

She pulled into my driveway and said, "I had a good time tonight, I can't wait to hang out tomorrow". "Pick me up at 2? We'll call it a date" I said as I started to unbuckle. "Hey, Russell?" I heard her voice ask. "Ye---" and I got cut off from my words as I looked up. I was locking lips with Katie again. I could feel her smiling. I reached up and put my hand softly on her face, gently gliding my tongue across hers. She pulled back and smiled. "Goodnight" she said. I smiled and her and whispered "Goodnight beautiful. "

I got out the car and walked inside. I walked quietly upstairs to my room, tonight was perfect. I didn't care that I had to dress up like a girl for Halloween , my heart felt as if it was beating once more. I felt whole. I layed in bed thinking of that kiss and drifted off into a deep sleep.
