I finally made my way to my chamber and made haste of cleaning one of the 2 extra rooms located in my tower.

My room was at the end of the hall. No one had knowledge of it actually being a room except for Earth who had helped me bring some of the heavier things in, it was funny how despite being on the smaller side he was stronger than me. At the door you could see a set of stairs and after ascending them you came to another door. That door led to my little piece of paradise.

My room was basically the entire right tower and despite me having a lot of room, I chose to keep very little. My bed was placed in the Center of the room inside a rusted metal cage. I know it sounds weird but locking myself up at night made me feel safe. I had taken the time to place black and red silks around the cage to make it look less animalistic. My bed was huge and probably my favourite part of my tower.

On the left side, I had used a victorian bookshelf to block out the only window. I prefer the darkness over light, I am a Ghoul after all. On the bookshelf I kept some of my most prized possessions that I had acquired over my lonesome years. In the Center I had a glass shrine placed where I displayed my very first heart in a beautiful crystal jar. This was the heart I sacrificed to become who I am.

I had placed various books of various topics around. I felt the proudest of my original Dante Alighieri Divine Comedy script. Long lost the the human world, it was perhaps my biggest treasure.

In the right corner I had my desk and work space. A beautifully black wood desk hand crafted at the epitome of the victorian era stood tall and sturdy. I was always one to be organised so naturally all my papers were stacked neatly and in the middle stood my type writer. Call me old fashioned I don't care. The smell of the ink on paper and the ring of the machine was just so enchantingly beautiful to me in particular.

I made my way to my walk-in closet which was one of the only modern touches in my cave aside from the tv and surround system. Earth had also helped me build this closet under the condition I let him have my Tetris game.

I began to disrobe myself. It had been a long day and the little encounter with Papa had worn me out more than I had noticed. Also the fact that I had left his soon to be room spotless in record time.

I took out my favourite grey sweatpants and slipped them on. They were huge on me but they were so soft. I let them fall low and snug on my hips before tightening them there to keep them from sliding completely off.

I was in the process of looking for a shirt when I heard shuffling near my desk.

"Terra if you move my stuff I will stuff you in the chimney again, so he..."
I stopped dead in my tracks, shirt still in hand.

"Well, well little one. I now see who's truly at fault for the soot stains by the chimney." Papa commented.

I stood still. What if I pissed him off again. This was always a possibility with me.

"Tell me, was it difficult to fit poor little Earth in there?. I am quite curious."

Before I could stop myself I found myself running to my caged bed and stammering "N-no Sir. A-alpha help-ped me."

I heard footsteps walking towards me. I grabbed one of the silks and closed the the curtain gap then slid under my fluffy black duvet. 'Maybe if I don't move he won't see me' I thought to myself.

Papa slid the curtain to the side and placed his hands on the cool metal of the cage.

I heard him chuckle and then speak softly.
"Little one, look at me."
"A-are you M-mad at me, P-papa?"
"I said look at me."

I slowly sat up and let the duvet slide off my still naked chest and pool around my waist. Slowly I tilted my head and dragged my eyes until I was finally looking at Papa eye to eye.

"Good little one. Now first of all, when it is just us two there is no need for you to address me so formally. We are sharing a home now, call me Emeritus. Secondly, I am not mad my child. I find it quite endearing that my little ghouls still have time to prank each other. And thirdly, why in hell do you sleep like a wild little cub in a cage?"

My body relaxed at the knowledge of Pa- I mean Emeritus not being angry. I sighed and scooted closer to the cage door and opened it.
I took a breath and surprised both of us by speaking with no stutter.

"You can come in and sit if you'd like."

Emeritus stepped forward and then threw himself on my bed missing me by inches.

"So comfy" I heard him say into the pillows.

"What are you doing Pa- I mean Emeritus?"
"Why I am accepting your invitation to your bed of course."

I felt my face heat up at his comment. "Um but I said you could sit, not take over my whole bed."

He flipped onto his side propping his head on his arm and looked at me intently.

"I'd very much rather lay here little one. Now tell me, why the cage? Is this a kink of yours perhaps?"

"I-I what?. Of c-course not?. I mean no!. Me?. What?."

I was so flustered I didn't know what to do. I got up and went in search for my shirt. I found it by my closet door and put it on. I took a deep breath and walked back to my bed. Emeritus laid still watching me intently. Slowly I sat back down and pulled my legs to my chest. I was silent for a few minutes trying to gather my thoughts so I wouldn't stutter when I began to talk.

"It was 1670. The year I was born."  My voice broke a little as I began to speak. I cleared my throat. "Sorry." I took another breath.

"My father had a small farm out in the plains. It was a humble shack but, it was home. We had a few animals so we were well enough." I looked at Emeritus and found that he had shifted himself and was now propped on my pillows and his shirt was now unbuttoned. He motioned me to continue.

"When I was 3 years old my mother was accused of witchcraft by the priests in the village. She was taken from our home and chained in rusty metal cage, this exact metal cage." I stopped when I felt the warmth of Emeritus's hand on my own.

"Anyways so that's a little history on the actual cage. Long story short, I sleep in it because it became my home after my mother was burned at the stake the year after her imprisonment and my father fled the town leaving me behind. I feel oddly enough safe and protected here, like I did in mothers embrace."

We were quiet for a while until I spoke up again.

"So, did you need anything?. I'm sure you came here for a reason."

Emeritus stood up. "Nothing little one. Just stopped by to give you my gratitude for cleaning my room. I like it."
He hesitated for a moment and spoke up again.
"I'm afraid it it quite late and I must excuse myself to my room. Sweet dreams little one."

I was surprised when he dipped down slightly and placed a kiss on top of my head and smiled. He stood up straight again and walked to my door.

"Goodnight Papa" I whispered softly and got comfortable. I heard him chuckle and then the lights came off, the soft click of the door was the last thing I heard before I hugged my stuffed unicorn to my chest and fell asleep.
