Cat was half an hour late. I gazed at the clock tower on the other side of the river whilst I waited.

Her knock was more gentle this time, but it was loud and rang out in the silent house. I opened the door and smiled at her.

"I'm ready," I said.

She smiled back. She was pale like marble in the moonlight. Her skin was perfect. Her hazel, windswept hair fluttered in the little gusts of wind. She was so pretty. She reminded me of the girl at the window. Her eyes were similar.

She was still dressed in her raggedy outfit, yet it somehow fitted her perfectly. She was thin and tall and beautiful. Like an angel bringing me up from my despair.

She laughed at me.

"Are you going to stand there staring all night, or are we going to go?" she smiled. She suddenly looked young and happy. Then it was gone again, into the shadows. She tugged at my arm, holding my hand suddenly, and then we were running down the empty streets, giggling like little kids. I was happy.
