*One week later*
I hop out of bed and go downstairs full of energy. I feel refreshed and excited for today's surprises.
"Hey Ma." I say as I enter the kitchen.
"Good morning, bebita. How are you today?" She says while pouring coffee.
"I'm good as always." I say before opening the fridge. I decide to make my family a quick, but hearty breakfast, so I pull out a few ingredients.
I turn on the stove and get to cooking.
Jacob walks in and sits on the couch with his laptop.
"So son, when are you off to college? Me and your sister are going to be so sad." She says while sipping her coffee and looking at him.
"Speak for yourself." I joke.

He grins while looking down and shaking his head.
"I should be leaving for college by the end of next month." He finally says.
I realize that that's not too far away and my hear drops a bit.
"Wow.." I say looking at him over my shoulder. "That's pretty soon."
He sighs and nods.
*
I finish cooking our breakfast and we all gather around the table.
We pray, and then dig in.
The food was acceptable, they seemed to be enjoying it so that was a good sign.
We finish eating and slowly walk into the living room with full stomachs. We turn on Netflix and watch TV for a few hours before I head back upstairs to my room. I decided to go back to the hospital to see if Tanara can come back home today.
I wash up and brush my teeth and hair.
I put on a black crop top, grey nike hoodie, ripped jeans, and my new puma platforms. As for my hair, I put it in a messy donut bun and headed down stairs.
Ma and Jacob were on the couch talking.
"Ma, I'm going to the hospital to see if Tanara can come home today, can I use your car?" I say.
"Okay, but be careful Carina. And I want you home by 11." She says.
"Yes mama." I say before heading out the door.
I hop into the black charger and pull out the driveway.

*At the hospital*

I check in at the front desk and rush towards Tanara's room, heart beating rapidly.
I open the door and step in to see her sitting in a chair with a outfit I bought her on, sound asleep.
I walk over to her and gently tap her shoulder. She opens her eyes and looks at me.
She then automatically stands up and hugs me.
Shocked, I hug her back.
"I've missed you so much." I say to her.
"Me too, Carina. Me too." She backs away, sighs and smiles at me. "But do you like this outfit tho? Don't these pants make my boots look big?" She does a pose and we both crack up. "You play too much." I say in between a giggle.
"How do you feel?" I say.
"I feel alive!" She says with a bright smile spread across her face.
I laugh releived.
We check in with the doctor to make sure she can come home.
We squeal when they say she can.
"Oooh I can't wait to leave this hospital. It makes me want to throw up." She says while pretending she's gagging.
"Well, I'm going to take you to your house so you can see your family. They miss you very much." I say as we walk outside into the cool air.
"I miss them too. It feels like I haven't seen them in forever." She says while getting into the passengers seat of the car.
I drive off excitedly.
We have a conversation about what's been going on at home, and she tells me about what she underwent at the hospital.

I pull up to the driveway at her house. It's a brick two-story house with bright flowers that welcome you onto the porch steps.
We head into the house and she squeals in excitement.
Her parents run up to her and hug her.
"Oh we missed you so much baby girl!" Her mom says while hugging her.
I stand off to the side akwardly, and they pull me into the hug.
Shortly after, we are all sitting down on the couch talking together.
"It was nasty in that hospital, I missed that good home-cooked food. All I ate was hard bacon and low-fat applesauce." Tanara says, making everyone crack up.
Then her family turns to me.
"How did you feel when they said Tanara wasn't dead?" Her dad asked me.
"I was really happy, I mean I was jumping for joy." I say with a smile.
*
After everyone finishes talking and laughing, they invite me to eat dinner with them.
I agree, because I don't have to be home until 11, and it was barely 5.
That was the best decision I ever made, because they made the biggest dinner ever.
There were buttery rolls, sphagetti, pizza, lasagna, peach cobbler, pumpkin pie, sweet potatoe pie, and a drink with half coffee and half ice-cream.
We gathered around the rectangular table as one of her family members laid down the food, plates, and silverware on the table. I grabbed a plate-full of plate, said my prayers, and dug in.
*
The thing with Tanara's family is that I don't like half of it. I mean, her mom and dad are both nice, but the rest of her family act funny towards me. I think the reason behind it is because they accuse me of purposely crashing the car. Weird, right? After all I've done for them. How did I crash the car when I wasn't even driving, you ask? I have the same question. And I've come up with a answer. Well, actually they came up with a answer. They say that I swerved the steering wheel to make her crash. I know, it makes zero sense, but that's her family. The main one accusing me is this girl named Rina. I never liked her because she's messy and just likes to start rumors about people to get attention. We go to the same school, and she's part of the "cool" group. I hate her.
Tanara doesn't see what I see, she says she just "jokes around" But no. She's plain evil. That's why she's my archenemy.
Speaking of the devil.
"Oh HI, Cari bear!" Rina walks into the living room with a fake smile plastered on her face. I roll my eyes and quietly groan.
"Hi, Rina. I've missed you dearly." I say in a monotone voice, along with a fake smile as well.
She plops down in a seat right beside me. She has way too much lipstick on, and her breath always smell like garlic. I secretly fake-gag at her to where only she can see it. She rolls her eyes at me. I giggle on the inside because she has on huge fake eyelashes that look like tralantrulas. She always wears skanky clothes and dresses that barely cover her panty line. I call her thot-Rina inside my head.
If Rina wasn't Tanara's first cousin, I would have called her that aloud, but I'm respectful.
*
Me and Tanara go up to her room to sit and talk.
"Ugh I'm glad we're away from Rina. I can't stand that bald headed witch." I stay to Tanara with a sigh of relief.
"She means well. Not a lot of people talk to her. She really wants to hang with you, she talks to me about you all the time." She says.
"Yeah right." I groan.
"First there's rumors about me going around in your family, then I have a delusional girl I have to deal with. Lastly, we go back to school in two days, and I'm sure Rina is going to tell the whole school as well. Life can't get any better." I catch my breath and sigh.
She just gives me a hug and sits cross-legged on her bed.
"My best advice to you is to just ignore what she says, and deny it. I know she can be pesky at times, but she don't mean it. Just do me a favor and ignore her." She says in a serious tone.
"Fine." I say. "But don't expect me to be all nice to her because that will never happen." I say with a laugh.
She laughs and playfully punches me in my arm.
We continue to talk for what seemed like hours and hours.
