Alex was exhausted, after a long day in court for the Jameson trial, she should be. She went straight to her office and sat in her chair. She took off her glasses and rubbed the bridge of her nose. She knew she wanted to see Liv but she also needed time to herself to unwind. She no sooner laid her head on her desk when she heard the door slowly open. She slowly lifted her head and saw Liv leaning against the doorway.
"So, Alex, what was the verdict on Mark Jameson?" Liv asked with a half-smile.
"He was found guilty of first degree murder of his wife and got 20 to 25 years without the possibility of parole...so all in all I think this calls for a celebration," she smiled seductively at Liv. Liv walked the few feet that separated them and sat on the edge of Alex's desk.
"How about we go back to our place, get ready and I take you out to Babbo's?" Liv smirked, hoping to have a date night with her girlfriend after a week of not really being able to spend time with her.
Alex leaned over and kissed Liv, taking in her girlfriend's scent. After the need for air became apparent, they parted and Alex looked at Liv.
"Sounds great...but I was thinking of staying in with you. We can cook or order something." Liv smiled and nodded. But tonight, after dating for so long, Alex was ready to ask Liv the big question. Everyone in the squad knew about Liv and Alex so when Alex needed an opinion on the ring, she asked Elliot to come with her because he really knew Liv. After a couple of hours of searching, Alex and Elliot decided on a three stone diamond and sapphire ring, 1/2 carat in 14 carat white gold. Alex was excited about what would happen tonight. Liv looked at Alex.
"Hey Alex, I know we both have tomorrow off but Elliot and Kathy invited everyone to a barbecue at their place, so I thought I'd ask you before making a decision," Liv smiled her famous crooked smile that Alex couldn't resist.
"I guess so...I miss hanging out with everyone when we got the jobs we do," Alex gave Liv a big hug.
Alex yawned. She was so tired from yelling at the dim witted defense attorney that Mark hired. Liv looked at Alex and smiled.
"I think it's time we both headed home, I'm done here and I know you are too," she helped Alex up, grabbed her briefcase and let her lean on her right shoulder. Liv pushes the elevator button. She glances at Alex and sees her sleeping.
"I wonder how she can fall asleep standing up," Liv thought. The elevator opened up and Liv walked in with Alex dragging her feet. The doors were about to close when Elliot caught it last minute. He sees Alex sleeping on Liv's shoulder.
"Must've been one hell of a court session for her," he said with a smirk.
"You have no idea, El...I know she was probably doing a lot of yelling at his attorney, so to celebrate that he got 20 to 25 without the possibility of parole so sleepy head and I are either gonna cook or order out.," she smiled. Elliot smiled and looked at Liv.
"So...did you mention the barbecue, you know Kathy misses seeing you guys."
Liv looked at Alex and answered Elliot without looking up.
"Yes and we will be there, what time did you need us there, El?," she kissed the top of Alex's head.
"I was wondering if you could come around 10 to help us get ready then the par-tay starts at noon," Elliot said while doing a little dance, if you can call it that. Liv chuckled. The door opened and they get off. As Liv and Alex get to Liv's '65 Mustang, Liv looks at Alex.
"Alex, sweetie," she whispered in Alex's ear. Alex stirred and rubbed her eyes as she slowly woke up.
"Unh...are we home yet?," she mumbled. Liv smiled. She loved it when Alex wakes up, she can say random stuff.
"No hun, we're at my car." Liv opens the passenger door and helps Alex in. She reaches over to buckle Alex in when Alex grabs her by her waist causing Liv to go into a giggling fit.
"Alex...I thought you were half asleep?," she said through each giggle.
"Nope, just pretended to sleep," Alex said with a smirk. She lets Liv go. Liv walks to the driver's side and gets in. She reaches for Alex's hand and gives it a squeeze while the car started. She pulls out of the garage and heads to their apartment, which was Liv's apartment. Alex had decided to move in with Liv a month after they started dating. As they pull in the driveway they see Elliot standing there. They both look at each other confused and get out. Liv looks at Elliot.
"What are you doing here, El?," Liv said with a little confusion.
"Well...I need to talk to Alex if that's okay with you guys."
Liv and Alex look at each other and Alex nods.
"I promise I won't hurt him, Liv," she jokes. She gives Liv a quick kiss and Liv heads inside. Alex walks over to Elliot.
"What do you want, Elliot?," Alex looked at him with a small smile.
"I was just wondering if you and Liv wanted Kathy and I to watch Molly tonight?," Elliot said with a huge grin.
Molly was Alex and Liv's two year old female pug that they got from the ASPCA two months ago. They always made sure she had enough when they were both out. She was like their first kid. Their first, fuzzy kid, but their kid. Alex smiled.
"I think that would be great, Elliot. Thanks, I'll get her stuff ready and call you at," she looks at her watch. It was 2:30. "How does 4:30 sound?" He nods. Alex hugs Elliot and he hugs her back. They let go and Alex walks into the building as Elliot drove off. She gets on the elevator and after what seemed like forever she got off on Liv's floor and entered the apartment. As soon as she too one step, she was nearly knocked over by Molly. She kneels down and pets Molly's head.
"How's Miss Molly doing?" Alex said in her cutesy voice. "How would you like to go to Uncle Elliot's tonight?" Molly's tail goes a mile a minute. As Alex was petting Molly's stomach, she hears Liv walking over.
"What about Molly going to Elliot's tonight?," she asked with a raised eyebrow. Alex knew Liv would appreciate this later.
"I just thought Molly needed a little Elliot time, you know how much she misses him," Alex said while getting up and giving Liv a passionate kiss. After the need for air became apparent, they parted with their foreheads touching.
"Besides, how much alone time do we truly get with her always watching us?," Alex knew Liv would appreciate this later.
"I know...we could use a little alone time, Alex, so I agree to this impromptu sleepover," Liv hugs Alex and Molly jumps in between them. They both giggle. Molly knew how to make both of them laugh.
"Tonight, Liv, I promise tonight will be the best night of your life," Alex thought,
"Alex, your mind will be blown in more ways than one," Liv thought. What neither woman knew was they had planned the same thing.
