"Hey have you seen Nathan?"
I was sitting alone at the usual table in the cafeteria when Zoénna approached me.
"Nah." I responded.

"Well do you have any idea where he might be?"

"Nah he and Kev are not talking to each other,I haven't seen either one of them since Monday." She then sat down across me. Put her bag down and let out a big sigh.
I didn't make any eye contact with her, just continued with my Math homework which was long due yesterday.

After an awkward of silence of about 5 minutes she finally spoke. "Does Kevin hate me?"

Truth be told I didn't know the answer to that. I did think a part of him did though and I didn't blame him.
"I don't think that's my question to answer."

"Great so he does hate me!"

"I never said he did I'm just saying..." I couldn't find the right words to finish my sentence. Luckily, both Kevin and Nathan appeared. I sure hoped they had made up.
"Why don't you ask him yourself?"
I pointed to the two guys as the walked towards us. She looked their way and I got caught up in my homework again.

"Hey babe." She stood up and gave Nathan a little peck on the lips. And awkwardly waved to Kevin, who just nodded.
Everybody sat down and there was no communication whatsoever. Kevin was on his phone,Nathan searched for something that clearly wasn't in his bag but just to avoid everyone he continued to going through his bag. Zoénna was jotting something down on her diary or something.

"Okay look I wanted to say I'm sorry, to both you Bryson and Kevin."
That caught my attention.
"I know me dating Nathan has kind of changed things a little bit and caused a bit of tension, I just wanted you guys to know that's not my intention. I've been hanging around with you guys hoping to get to know you better. You seem like really cool people and you're important to Nathan so in turn you're important to me."

She finished her speech and both her and Nathan's eyes were fixed on Kev and I,probably waiting for us to respond. I went first.
"It's ayt, maybe we need to get used to you guys together that's all."

And then it was Kev's turn. But he didn't say anything. Just kept scrolling on his phone.
"Kevin.. "
Nathan gave him a 'don't you think you should say something?'look and Kev gave him just want he wanted.

"Well clearly this has been rehearsed, but it's the thought that counts right?"
He had to be kidding me. What more did he want?

I gave him a look and he asked "what?"

"Look I really meant what I just said..." But before Zoénna could finish off her sentence, Kev cut her of.

"Oh save it for another day sweetheart." He then stood up,nodded goodbye to me and patted Nathan's shoulder as he walked away.

I was going to try to ignore what had just happened. I reached across the table to get my other Math paper to finish the assignment when I saw I drop of some liquid on it. I studied it for a few seconds only to hear soft sobbing. I looked up and saw Zoénna covering her face with her hands, she was definitely crying. And I was definitely getting out of here.
I packed my stuff and left Nathan to deal with his girl. Another reason why I didn't want to have a girlfriend.

I was just about done with my sauce. It was for my spaghetti bolognese. Being ditched by both parents meant I heard to learn to do a few things essential for living. Like cooking for instance. Besides Aerin and I couldn't go out every night, or order takeouts. No one had that type of money to waste, even if we did, spending that much money on food would just be absurd.
