"Y'all going to tell me what's going on or what?" Kevin spoke but I just drove silently and I could hear Zoénna sinking furthermore into her seat in the back of the car.

"Shit! We're running out of gas!"
I exclaimed.

"I knew that." Kevin said.

"And you thought it was best to keep that to yourself?" I asked annoyed.

"Well it seems I'm not the only one keeping shit to myself!" He said this turning his body to look at Zoénna at the back.

"Oh for the love of God Kevin, let that go!" Zoénna shot back. And I must say I was surprised that she stood up to Kevin. But then again the situation we were in left her with not much of a choice.

I turned and drove into the gas station. If we didn't get gas soon we'd end up stuck on the side of the road with Kevin pestering us. I don't know about Zoénna but I wasn't up for that.
I stopped the car and got out to fill the tank up. A few minutes later Kev got out too, this was really going to be one hell of a night.

"Lanez."

"Kevin."

"What went down?"

"Nothing you got to worry about." I said as I finished filling the tank. I was walking to get into the car when Kevin said,
"I'm pretty sure it's something Nathan has to worry about right?"

Without even noticing I was all up on Kevin's space, holding the collar of his shirt and it looked like I was ready to brawl. Forcing his back onto the side of the car I asked slowly," What you tryna say?"

He didn't look scared, probably just waiting for me to let go of him so he could get in the car. "Nothing, but when you get assed out, don't try to ask me for help."

I pushed him before letting go of his clothes. "So you're going to be a little snitch?"

"How can I snitch when I don't even know what happened?"

We had some sort of staring contest for a little while. He fixed himself up and opened the door.
"I hope I wasn't right Lanez,I really do."

*******

Alber called me the next morning telling me she was bringing Aerin over. Apparently she had some family function to attend and well George was just not in my state to look after the kids at the moment.
Not that I wasn't excited to see my sister but I had so much homework, that I would barely look at her for a solid 5 minutes without trying to do an equation.

But of course I didn't tell Alber any of this. I would be basically proving her point that I had no time to give Aerin my full attention. So instead I lied, saying "That's great Alber, I've been dying to take Aerin to the new restaurant downtown."

Within twenty minutes my sister was wrapped around my arms as we watched our Godmother drive away.

"You're taking me to a restaurant?" Aerin spoke in a squeaky voice.

I got down to her level to try and find a soft way of saying that I had made that all up and we weren't going anywhere. But I thought about it,if I took her out to some restaurant with a kids play section,I could get some homework done while Aerin was draining all her energy playing. Yes! Temples, was just the place.
So I scooped her up and ran back into the house screaming "Yeeeessss!"

I told her to go put her stuff in her room, while I packed everything I would need. She came back and we left the house and got into the car to drive 15 minutes into the city centre.
Aerin couldn't help but jump up and down occasionally and I had to tell her a few times to stop. Temples was her favourite restaurant as far as I could remember, and she could always tell whenever we would go to it.
