My math teacher lived to make high school students ' lives miserable. For example giving us homework,on a Monday, could it get any worse? But I wasn't mad about it because great success comes with great responsibility. If I was going to graduate then I had to work hard to achieve that.

"There is a math quiz that is going to take place next week."
Before the students could make excuses so they wouldn't have to participate Ms Kline added "and it's compulsory for each and every one of you to take part."
The groans came from every corner of the room.

"Now things have been changed up a little bit, instead of pairing with your classmates, partners from the other math class have been selected for you."

She received bemused looks from everyone. I didn't bother arguing,it was clear that there was no way anyone could evade attending the quiz.
She walked over to her table and produced a paper from her drawer. Presumably the list of names and it turned out that I was right because she started announcing the names.

"Then Lisa you will be paired with Kyle Denver. Who didn't get a partner?"
I raised my hand because I didn't have one.

"Oh Bryson, right, the last available person is Zoénna Arden. That okay?"

She asked as if I had a choice to say no. So instead I just gave her small smile and then it was time for lunch. I walked to the cafeteria finding the guys going on about the last game between the Cavs and Warriors. Couldn't they find something new to talk about?

"Y'all still going on about that?"

"Well Nathan won't stop crying because we beat their asses." Only Kevin would shout so childish. I wondered how he managed to get all those girls sometimes, because he was forever acting so juvenile.

Our forth table member joined us,giving her boyfriend his due diligence. Saying hi to Kevin and I but only getting a response from me.

"I think y'all niggas better find something better to rant about." I said.

"Kevin knows that they ain't shit without Curry." Nathan stated putting a spoonful of mashed potatoes in his mouth.

"And your team ain't jack without LeBron, but wait wasn't he playing too, scratch that your whole team ain't jack period."

Again,could he act more juvenile?

"Well I think the Caveliers will come back stronger next season right baby?" Poor Nathan had no choice but to agree with his girl even if it all just looked sad.

"What do you know about ball?" Kevin asked in a not so polite way. As if he was looking down on Zoénna.

But his tone did not seem to offend her.
"All I need to know." She said simply.

"I bet you only know the two teams we just mentioned." Kevin muttered but we could all hear him.

"Houston Rockets,LA Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunders,
Spurs, Lakers, Miami Heat, should I continue? " Kevin did not reply to that and I couldn't help but chuckle.

"Wanna watch a movie later?"
Nathan asked, I wasn't sure whether he was talking to the whole table or just his girl.

"It's Monday babe,I have work remember?Besides I have a math quiz coming up."
I guess he was talking to Zoénna.

"Everyone is buzzing about that, apparently partners will from different classes." Kevin had regained his composure.

"Yeah I'll only get to know my partner after this."
She took her notepad out, jotting down something.

"What are you writing?" Her boyfriend asked.

"A note to my unknown partner,I have to leave early today because of my shift so we can only start preparing tomorrow."
