“I know it’s been almost 80 years now, but I feel like I’ve gained enough experience to go out and live on my own.  Marvin I promise I’ll try to stay in touch and I’ll never ever forget this,” I said waving my arms in the air, “new life you’ve given me the opportunity to live. I’m very grateful that you and your family saved me”

“I know, and don’t be sad we’ve loved having another member around.  You can come back anytime you want. I think I speak for all of us when I say I’ll miss you.”

And with that I turned around and walked away.  I had no idea where I was going to go. No idea who I was going to meet. I just knew I had to move on to something new.  I had suffered through many things.  I watched my mother die from a tree outside a hospital window.  I watched my best friend grow up without me even though it seemed a part of her was missing throughout her life.  When she died I didn’t speak or hunt for months.  I moved off to Antarctica with the family so I could be alone.  After a while I just moved apart from Marvin and left him.  I knew now that I need to find a job.  I decided to start going to a high school to seem normal.

August 23, 2010

I had just transferred to a new high school.  I decided to live in Portland, Oregon.  I read in many books that it’s super rainy, and I was not disappointed.  As soon as my plane landed it began raining.  I didn’t have any luggage; just the clothes I was wearing.  I was wearing blue skinny jeans with rain boots and a black Paramore shirt covered by a Calvin Klein Petite Jacket, Long Sleeve Belted Down Puffer Coat.  When I entered the airport I grabbed an umbrella.  Whenever I went somewhere new I usually stole what I needed until I could support myself with a house and car.  That night I walked the streets looking for somewhere to stay. I couldn’t find anything so I knew would have to get some money.  I started easy; I only hunted in richer parts of the city.  Then I robbed small corner stores. That night I gained enough money to rent a small apartment which I only need to seem like a human.  In the morning at about 6:30 I went to the closest Laundromat and washed the clothes I was wearing.  This was the day I would again pretend at another high school.  After I left the Laundromat I went to Wal-Mart and bought a notebook and pencil even though I already knew all of the answers to every future test.

A part of me always wished Marvin would’ve let me die.  I hated never being able to….live.  I was just this nonexistent shell of a person.  Only a body that should’ve been dead a long time ago.  I walked to my new school. It was 8:25 and the morning bell had just rang as I entered the doors to the office.  I picked up my schedule and went to my first period class. Trigonometry.  I walked in and gave the teacher my schedule.

“Ah…we have a new student at our school. Why hello Elizabeth.” He reached out his hand and I knew instantly he was going to weird me out the entire year.

            “Um…it’s just Beth.”

“Well, Beth, you can sit next to…” He scanned the large room for an open seat. “Mr. Dawson right over there.” When I looked to see where he was pointing I lost my unneeded breath.  He was unbelievable, breathtaking.  He reminded me of my original high school’s Dominic Marino.  He had messy brown hair and green eyes.  He raised his hand so I knew I was him and he flashed a beautiful white smile. He seemed perfect to me.  I walked over to the table and sat down next to him.   His heart was beating fast than when I first walked into the room.
