I realize that The Mystery was boring. Consider The Monster to be he climax of our story, or at least one of them. Short intro: STARTING THE TABOO!
An earsplitting roar came from further up the path, making Levy cling to Gajeel's arm in fright. The loudness of it gave no clue to what it was, and being human, she was scared. Levy felt Gajeel's arms wrap around her to protect her from what was going to reveal itself.
The ground quaked in the humungous creature's wake. First, a massive head with bus-long sabors growing from its mouth and two bloodred eyes emerged from the shadows, following an even bigger body, about three football fields long, covered in silver spines that snaked from its tail all the way to its chin.
Another roar cracked the air as the beast spotted the duo, and it stomped its clawed feet in fury. The monster swung its tail from side to side, sawing down trees with the sudden great force. "I AM TABOO!" it howled. "HEAR MY ROAR AND FACE YOUR DEATH!"
"It can TALK?!" Gajeel yelled over the Taboo's rant. Levy stared in horror at the monster. It was there to kill trespassers. That was its purpose. Her ears rang bee cause of the booming introduction.
Gajeel suddenly grabbed her wrist and was half-dragging her back down the path they came from. Levy could feel his hand trembling in fear. 'It's this bad,' she thought. 'If even Gajeel is scared then there must be no hope.'
"SOLID-SCRIPT: LAVA AVALANCHE!" she cried, watching as the Taboo began to be covered in lava. That would hold it off for a little while; hopefully long enough for them to escape.
But Levy was wrong. The lava was like a hot bath to the Taboo. It just shook off the red, scorching liquid and continued to lumber after them. There was no doubt in one factor: the Taboo was even angrier than before.
"GET GOING!" Gajeel shoved Levy away from the monster. "I'LL HOLD IT OFF JUST GO!"
"HOLD ON!" Levy cried back. She took her stylus and wrote out Iron, and aimed it toward Gajeel, then ran. "Please be safe," she sobbed. "I love you too much to lose you..." Scrambling up the path, Levy could hear the Taboo's and Gajeel's battlecries. She didn't want to leave him; she felt like she was leaving him alone to die.
When she got a safe distance away from the brawl, Levy sank to the ground in a fit of tears. All she could think about was the endless variety of ways Gajeel could possibly lose his life to the Taboo. She imagined his blood staining its teeth as it ripped Gajeel to shreds. She could feel Gajeel's heart stop as the Taboo's claws sunk into his chest.
Levy felt like vomitting. Her whole body was trembling at her greatest of fears, the sudden possibility that they would come true. "Don't leave me," she whisper-sobbed. "Please Gajeel. I love you. You can't leave!"
Suddenly, the atmosphere went deathly silent. No roar from the Taboo, no Gajeel yelling and attacking. Just utter silence.
Then, there was a snap of a twig. The swish of a bush. Levy braced herself for what would come out of the greenery and...
It was Gajeel. Barely scathed except for a few scrapes and bruises, he was in perfect condition. In his hand he held one of the Taboo's silvery spikes. Oh, Levy couldn't contain herself. She pounced on him with a feeling of mixed relief and joy. She embraced him with full arms and a bucket full of tears until Gajeel peeled her off like a sticker and set her back down on the ground.
"What was that all about?" he asked, pushing over the spike, making it land with a cloud of dust billowing from it.
Smiling and crying, Levy hugged him less fiercely than before, then she whispered, "I thought I might lose you,"
"That ain't ever gonna happen Shrimp," Gajeel ruffled her hair comfortingly.
"I know," Levy laughed, or cried, whichever. "Gajeel..."
"What?"
"I love you."
