Sun shone in through the thin curtains and the birds were in full symphony. Tangled in the sheets, Hermione was awoken by the sleepy mumbles of her most favourite person: Ron. His eyes were still closed but he was half awake. His fiery hair was tousled over his face and his breathing was heavy. Hermione leant across the bed and, smoothing back his hair, kissed his lightly on the lips. His eyes opened almost instantly to see his most favourite person sitting up beside him. He smiled, cupping her face and pulling her towards him again. Hermione felt Ron's hands run from down her face to her waist as she kissed him. On instinct, she shifted herself towards him and threw her leg over the top of his torso.

"Blimey 'mione" Ron whispered sleepily.

As they drew apart, Hermione sat up, still with her legs either side of Ron's waist. She smiled at him, stroking his cheek. Ron returned the smile. She had bushy hair and morning breath; it was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen.

"Do you remember this time last year?" Hermione asked, "just before I was going back to school."

"When I told you I was going to miss you more than anything in the world? Yeah I remember." He looked sad. Hermione smirked at him and gave him one last kiss before climbing off of him and getting out of bed.

She strolled across their room and put on a largely oversized jumper, before sitting down at her dressing table in an attempt to tame her curls. Moments later, she felt two strong arms slither over her shoulder. Ron kissed Hermione's neck before placing his head on her shoulder.

"Don't brush it. I like it like this."

She slapped his arm gently and he let her go, laughing. As Ron sat back down on the edge of the bed, Hermione swivelled round on her stool.

"It's mental, really. If you think about it-" Hermione announced.

"Completely mental..." Ron replied, not fully aware of what she was talking about but not in the right mood to question his very intellectual girlfriend.

"No Ronald, I'm serious. Think about it. Only a year ago, I was going back to Hogwarts. And only five months before that, we were fighting for our lives."

Ron looked up at her and stood. "So it's been about a year and five months since we first did it?"

Hermione looked at him puzzled. He beckoned her over and, responding to wishes, she went to stand opposite him.

"Did what? May I ask." she questioned.

"This..." Ron said, before planting a heavy kiss on her mouth. Hermiones hairbrush clattered to the floor, just as the Basilisk fang had done in the Chamber of Secrets. She threw her arms around his neck.

Still with their lips entwined, Ron lifted Hermione off her feet and twirled her around. She squealed in delight, throwing her head back. As her feet touched the ground again, she looked up into his eyes.

"Oh...that. I remember now."

As much as Hermione loved being at Hogwarts, it was never as wonderful without Ron around. She had missed him so much when she had returned to finish her seventh year. But now she had finished studying for good, and they could be together whenever they wanted. It was more than she could have ever hoped for. And Ron, of course, felt like the luckiest man in the world. Hermione was back with him for good. He loved her so much, that waiting a year for her when she went to Hogwarts was entirely worth it. Because now she was his, and he was hers. They had each other and the whole world in their hands. Nothing or no one could tear them apart.
