Over Time

Chapter 8

We have been driving for 10 minutes now and we finally get to Starbucks. It's only 7:30 and school doesn't start until 8:30. So we decide to go in and eat something too. Luke goes up to the register and orders for me while I get us some seats. I always get the same thing when we come and Luke knows my order. Raspberry filled turnover and a caramel machioto frappuccino. He gets a mocha cappuccino with 2 raspberry pumps.

Luke gets our drinks and my turnover and sits in the seat across from me. We talk about how the guys band is going and they seem to be getting more and more attention on the internet. They have been posting covers on YouTube and they are finally getting noticed. I'm so happy for them.

I hear the bell ring as someone walks through the door. Alecia. She used to have a thing for Luke but he hates her. There are only a few guys in our school that she hasn't slept with and she's good at stealing boyfriends.

"Hey Lukey," she says with too much pep.

"Don't call me that."

"Why not Lukey." She questions and puts her hand on his shoulder. He brushes it off and is obviously annoyed.

"Because Eva is the only one that is allowed to call me that," Luke states and grabs my hand, tracing circles on my thumb with his.

"Ugh, I honestly don't know what you see in her. She is definitely not good enough for you. All you're doing is just settling on her."

At that moment he stands up and slams his chair away.

"Don't you ever disrespect her like that again. I suggest that you leave now before I do something I shouldn't!"

Alecia stomps out of the door defeated. I can't help but sit here as tears fall down my red cheeks. I never thought about Luke settling for me. Is that what he did. I mean I had no idea that he actually liked me. Maybe he just gave up on the girl he had been waiting on for two years and settled on me.

I feel two hands pull me up from the chair and then next thing know my head is buried in Luke's chest. He whispered for me to stop crying. I finally stop as I pull away from him.

"Did you really settle on me?" is all I can get out.

When I look at him he looks taken back by my question.

"Of course I didn't settle on you. If anything you settled on me baby. I love you so freaking much it's crazy. I think about you all the time and I can't stand to be away from you. I never want you to listen to that slut ever again."

"I love you so much Lukey."

"Let's just head out of here," I state and grab both of our drinks.
The car ride to school consists of a Pvris album and Luke and I jamming out as horribly possible. We turn in the lot in front of school. We are juniors this year so we get to park in the closest lot which is only for juniors and seniors. Luke turns off the engine and faces me.

" So we have first period together, not second but we can still walk together to our class, third period together, lunch, an then last period together." Luke states. "We are locker buddies too, so we get to see each other all the time."

"I just can't wait to show everyone we're together," I exclaim and grab my bag, about to open the car door and get out.

"That's the only reason I'm excited for today," Luke admits. "I'll get the door for you babe."

He briskly walks to the passenger side of the car and opens my door for me. I grab his hand and we make our way over to the front lawn. No one ever goes into the school until 8:15. We just hang out outside until then. I find the rest of the guys by the tree to the left and start running over to them. I'm still holding Luke's hand so I drag him along. First I hug Michael and he has red hair to kick off Junior year. Then I move on to Calum and he looks very unhappy to be here. Which is understandable. Luke and the boys talk a bit and then he grabs my hand and pulls me in closer to his side.

Michael and Calum both look at each other and gasp.

"Did you finally ask her bro?" Calum mutters.

"I did and I'm so happy. Everyone gets to see that you're mine now."

"You two are so cute, I have honestly always seen you two being a thing." Michael states.

I wonder where Ashley, Katelyn, and Grace are? They usually get here around this time. I think that Michael has a thing for Ashley because lately when we hang out he gets all nervous around her which is very new. I think they would be a great couple. I always have thought they would be. I also really hope that Katelyn and Calum become a thing this year. I think she likes him and when she falls for someone, she falls hard. Just like I do.

"Hey assholes!" Ashley shouts as the three of them walk over to us. After about 5 minutes of catching up, Grace notices Luke and I holding hands.

"Are you fucking kidding me? No way!"

"What Grace?" Ashley questions, obviously concerned.

"Luke and Eva are together!"

I look at Luke and he is a just beaming. I seriously have never seen him so happy and that warms my heart.

"Ya, a solid 3 days now." I tell Grace.

"I'm so excited for you guys, oh who am I kidding I'm excited for myself too."

Later, Luke and I are at our lockers getting our books for first period and now I'm beginning to not enjoy today. Alecia is across from us and making out with Jake, my ex. Well let's just hope today doesn't get any worse.
