Chapter 3

After doing nothing all weekend, I lost track of time. I woke up at 6:15 to the sound of my horrendous alarm clock that never shuts up. Great. It's Monday.

I get up from bed - of course after about 4 snooze button slaps - and go downstairs. As I go down, I see some soggy cereal on the table that seems like it was left there for decades untouched.

The house was quiet - too quiet, in fact. I go to eat and next to the cereal is a letter. It's folded into thirds yet it looks almost like a diamond. Well, that's beside the point I open it up. It's a letter from my parents. I could tell by the handwriting that my mom had written it:

Valentina,

So sorry but we had to go to work early today. It was a short notice. Here, we left you some cereal so eat up! If you need anything else, check the fridge but don't take my word for it if we don't have what you'd like (aka: poptarts) Well we will see you later today. If you prefer, we left the car in the garage so you can drive today. Otherwise, you can walk or take the bus. See you tonight.

Love,

Mom

I'm not surprised the letter wasn't helpful. Well I knew at this time that I had to go to school now. Still a little grumpy - like my morning self - I packed my bag, took out the car and headed off to school.

When I had gotten there I noticed a huge poster right in front of my classroom for math. On the poster was a written message to our class:

Hello class,

Currently I am very sick and am becoming pregnant. On this note, I will not be attending school until further notice. I will definitely not return this year so your class has been split up into new groups with the 11th graders. Here are the new classes:

Well I hope you enjoy your new classes.

Sincerely,

Oh. My. God. I'm now in Zac's math class! I'm not sure whether I'm insanely excited or nervous though. I need Amber.

Finally, I found her! It was about 5 hours later but I found her. That's good enough for me.

"Amber, I'm in Zac's math class!!!!"

Her eyes widened and raced back directly looking into my eyes.

"Are you serious! This is great!!! Now you can make your move!"

I could clearly see the excitement in her.

"Yeah it's great but I told you, I don't think I'm 'making a move' yet. But also, I'm kind of nervous. I mean what if I screw this whole thing up? What if I act like a psychopathic idiot who belongs in an insane asylum? What if"

She cuts me off.

"Enough with the what—ifs. You love him. All you need to do is act natural around him. Just.. chill!"

I can say without a doubt that I'm feeling much better now. Who knew something so plain and obvious could relieve my stress and anxiety so much?! Wow.

"But really" She says "You should make a move."

I can't hide it forever. I eventually need to tell her she's right and eventually tell Zac I like him - or do something!

"Fine." I say even though the thought of this makes me sick.

"I guess I'm ready.."
