Chapter 5

Oh gosh, 3 o'clock already? I can't believe it, Zac is gonna be here in 15 minutes. It's all happening so fast. I better get ready. This may take a while.

As I expect, it did take a while.

"Valentina, someone is here to see you." My mom calls.

"DO NOT get the door, let me do it!!" I say frantically.

I rush over to the door pamper myself in a split second and open the door. I peak my head out.

There he is. Calm down this is gonna be fun, not nerve racking.

"Hey Valentina."

"Hey Zac, what's up?"

"Well nothing really. So did you wanna do homework together?"

"Yeah come on let's go up to my room."

We walk up to my room as I easily glance over into his eyes. I guess my romantic side got the best of me. I stumble over flat on my face on the staircase.

Nice going, Valentina.

"Oh my god, are you okay?" Zac asks me.

"Yeah I'm totally fine, thanks. Anyway, lets just start homework. I'll show you to my room."

"K."

Finally, we get to my room and I haven't fallen again yet.

New record!

"So what homework did you get?" He asks me.

Gosh if only I could talk this easily with him. How is it so easy for him to talk to me? I mean yeah he's a hunk but ugh - just forget it okay? He doesn't feel the same way about you. It's so obvious.

"Oh uh yeah.. Sorry what was the question?"

"Um I asked you what homework you got. You seem kind of out of it. Are you alright? We can do this some other time you know?!"

"No don't leave!"

Ugh now I sound desperate. Way to go.

"I'm fine. Let's just do homework together. Uh ok lets start now.."

"Alright then. So do you think you'll need any help?"

"Um I'm not really sure. You?"

"Ugh definitely. I took a look at the work earlier and couldn't feel more stressed. Thank god you're here."

I'm gonna pass out. Did he just say that? To me?

"You have no idea."

"About what?"

"Wait, what?"

"You just said I have no idea. I have no idea about what? Seriously, Valentina, you really don't seem well. I think we should just call it off for today and try again tomorrow."

I have no other excuse. Fine.

"Ok, I guess you're right. I'm just really tired."

"Ok well I'll come back tomorrow. Same time?"

"Yeah 3:15 works."

"Ok great. Well listen, I really hope you feel better. Take care of yourself okay?"

"Alright but I'm really fine."

"K.." He paused for a little while. "Actually, would you mind if I stuck around for a little bit? I just feel like we should get to know each other better before we could do homework together and tutoring things and such."

"Oh yeah, that sounds great."

"Nice. Okay well, what do you like to do?"

"Well I really love to dance. I've been doing it for almost 15 years. What about you? I'd assume you like football and things like that?"

"Why do you assume that?"

I take a long look at his firm muscles and slowly work my way to what appears to be abs.

"Well, I don't know you just seem like the kind of guy who works out a lot."

"Oh ha. I see. Well thank you but actually I like musical theater, too. Not as intense as you but I really like things like that. Hey do you have any siblings?"

"No. I'm the only one. Why do you ask?"

"I don't know. Well I don't either. Well I mean I kind of do. But I don't. It's hard to explain.."

"Oh."

What the heck does that even mean?! You do but you don't. What??

"Ok well is it something you'd rather not talk about?"

"It's not like that but - anyway."

Yeah he doesn't want to talk about it. Just don't bring it up, it's all good.

I change the subject as fast as I can.

"Well um.. so.."

This is stupid. What am I saying? I gotta change the subject. Come on think!!!

"So do you like"

He cuts me off.

"Wait." He says softly.

"What?"

He begins to lean it.

Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. What is happening?!

I suddenly begin to feel less nervous. More safe, secure, happy.

He keeps coming in closer until I see his eyes softly being to shut.

This is it. Go for it.

I lean in closer and closer until my eyes begin to shut too. I can feel his soft lips gently press against mine as we rest there for what feels like forever and all of eternity.

We slowly drift away from each other an open our eyes. Our eyes meet. Those shining blue eyes right in front of me.

This actually just happened.

I smile softly but greatly.

"Valentina, I really like you."

Ok this is for real. This is for real. This is for real??!!

"You have no idea how amazing it is to hear you say that."

He smiles back at me. He stands up,

"Well I think I better go now."

"Ok.."

"I'll see you tomorrow." He stops. I still see him staring at me uncontrollably.

Wow.

"I love you" He says.

"I love you too Zac. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Yeah. Ok bye."

"I'll walk you to the door." I say.

"Alright."

We walk back downstairs though this time I stay on my feet at all times. As we get to the door my mom passes by. She stops for a minute and just stares at Zac.

Gee mom, I guess you do have good taste. I think.

"Zac?" She says in shock.

Zac turns toward her and his eyes widen. His jaw drops as he spits out the words that will never leave my head:

"Mom?"
