Zac's POV
"Dad, we need to talk." I say in a firm voice as a slam the door behind me.
"What is it?"
"About moving in with Valentina and mom,"
He slowly shakes his head and looks toward the floor again.
"Zac just listen. It isn't going to happen, okay? Sure, I miss your mother and Valentina dearly but there's a reason why we did what we did. We just lost our spark and drifted a part. Things like that happen, you need to get that."
"I do get that! I just don't get why it happened to you."
"Zac, I've told you before. We weren't meant for each other."
"But you were, Dad. That's how you ended up together and now that we're a part Valentina is living her life in confusion and despair. She doesn't even remember you. Her own father is unrecognizable to her."
"I know," He says in a softer tone.
"But this is what happened and I just don't think what we had was working out."
"You wouldn't even do it for your daughter? Not even me?"
"It wouldn't be something I'd enjoy."
"But what about me, dad? What about me? Doesn't my opinion matter?"
"No it doesn't. Now go upstairs to your room. I want to be alone."
"My room isn't here?"
"What are you talking about, Zac? Don't be ridiculous."
"My room is at my home. And my home is where my mother and sister are so if you don't want to join us there then feel welcome to enjoy your life here, without us."
My dad stares into my eyes. His blue eyes shining through to mine.
"Honestly," I say, "I thought you'd do this for me."
He rises from the couch and rests his arm around my neck. I want to shove him off though my head feels like it's going to explode from stress and sadness so I let it go.
"I would."
"Then move in with us!"
"I.. I can't."
I throw his arm off me and leave the apartment. I'm through with this.

Valentina's POV
"Hey Zac!"
"Hi"
"Any luck with dad?"
"None at all."
I sigh gently and consider new thoughts I had never come about before.
What if dad just doesn't want to meet me? Has he met me? Does he hate me? What happened between us?
I look back at Zac.
"He's just so stubborn," He says. "I'm not sure what's wrong with him."
"Well," I say, "I wish I knew."
"Yeah, me too."
He pauses for a while until his eyes meet back with mine.
"Wait! I just got a great idea. My dad mentioned that him and mom had a spark between them and it faded away since they hadn't seen each other for a while. So what if we plotted up a time for them to meet so the spark will fire again?!"
"Oh my gosh that's a great idea!! But wait, how will dad ever agree to come if he won't even come to see me?"
"I could tell him I'm bringing him to dinner at a restaurant where you could take mom. Then, we'll reserve two tables - one for us and one for them."
"Perfect!"
"Ok cool. Let's get to work."
We plan the entire night to the minute until we're absolutely sure that it'll work. We reserve two tables slightly far away so they're alone but just close enough for us to listen in on how things are going. I buy mom a fancy dress and Zac gets dad a nice tux. We both tell our parents that it'll be strictly for the two of us and that we have a wonderful surprise waiting there for them. This is going to be great.
Hey guys!
I know this chapter was a little shorter than usual but I've been seriously busy lately from school to recitals - it's nuts. I tried to squeeze in some time just now to write another chapter and sorry it's been such a long time. I would love it if you could comment, rate and share this with friends if you're enjoying this.
