One for the Books

23

That night we are watching a movie upstairs on my laptop. It's rainy and chilly outside, perfect cuddling weather. You know that kind of weather where the it has been raining off and on. The wind howls through the house and hot chocolate is the best on these days. I love these days.

"I feel like I have known you for years." I smile at what he said. He pulls me closer to him. He kisses my forehead.

"I love you." I whisper. I look up into his teal eyes, they sparkle with a green in them. The curtain is open so the light sunlight pours in.

"I love you too." He pauses,  "Nova do you mean it?"

"I love you with everything have. I always will." I smile.

"You will?" He looks down at me.

"Yeah." I smile. I lean my head back on his chest. He gets up and rifles through his bag.

"So you know how I'm crazy right?" He smiles. He paces back and forth in front of my bed. I sit up.

"Yes?" I laugh.

"Well I did something crazy." He laughs at himself. Trevor sits down then stands back up.

"Can you please stop pacing? You're scaring me." I ask. He stops and sits by me.

"I love you." He takes my hands in his. He kisses them and holds my hands in his lap.

"I love you too." I laugh. He moved off the bed and-and-he kneels. He kneels! Oh snap.

"Will you marry me?" He smiles. He pulls from his pocket a pink box, my favorite color, and reveals the ring. Holy fudge.

My eyes widen and my mouth falls open, "Trevor."

"Nova." He laughs. "So will you?"

"We are only 20 and 21. And we have only known each other for 3 months." He rolls his eyes and sits by me.

"My parents have been married for 45 years. They only knew each other for 2 weeks before their engagement. "

"Trevor I don't know." I take my hands and ring them together, I do this when I'm nervous.

"Do you love me? Like you say you do?" He asks.

"Yes, I love you so much-"

"Then what's stopping you? Here let me tell you how I feel. Because," he grins, "I could talk about my love for you anyday. And I don't do the whole mushy gushy thing." He says.

"Ok go on." I nod.

"I feel this connection with you. This connection I haven't felt with anyone else. When I walked into that pub and saw you there the wind was knocked out of me. I just feel this pull around you all the time. Like I always need you there, or I won't survive. A love that will be there forever. And you're so beautiful, which Is a plus." He winks. "When I was talking with your dad and I told him I was gonna take care of you for ever, I was serious. And that's where I realized how much I loved you." He says.

I blush. "So Nova, will you marry me?"

I nod. "You will?"

"I will marry you, Trevor." I smile.  He slides the ring onto my finger.

"It was my great grandmothers. It's been in the family for generations." Happy tears slide down my face. He wipes my tears away and kisses me.

Here I am at 2:15 am in my pajamas. Getting engaged to in my bedroom. He could have done this at a fancy restaurant but this is more our style.

It's one for the books.
