Chapter 3: Punching trees

I realized for the first time in forever that I was terribly hungry. I looked up at the sun. YIKES! It was already noon. Night would arrive any minute and Notch(I guess that's who he was) said that night means danger. I walked over to a tree and started punching it. I punched it to my heart's content and finally I got a block of wood in my hand. Wow! I started punching the next block, and finally after a procedure of a lifetime I broke the entire tree down. I quickly split all my wood into planks and made myself a workbench. At this stage I had to act fast; the sun was about to set. I barely knew what I was doing but in my haste, I managed to chop my planks down into sticks and made myself something that looked like a sword. Then, I sharpened it on the edge of my workbench and I finally had a decent weapon. Wow, I thought, I'm getting the hang of this pretty nicely.

My next challenge would be to make myself a house. At this time I remembered a framed image at the Minecraftian consul back on earth that had a house made out of dirt. I looked down and discovered that there was any amount of dirt I wanted underneath me. Using my common sense, I made myself a shovel from the remaining wood that I had. I started to shovel away heaps of dirt and after what seemed like forever, I realized that it was getting dark and that I had (maybe) enough dirt. I wiped my forehead and chose a suitable spot for my little house. I started piling the blocks of dirt one on top of the other, shaping them up like a hut until I ran out of dirt. I realized that I had made a quite decently sized house. The only thing missing was a door. No problem, I thought, and I crafted myself a door quickly. Just in time, I managed to grab my workbench and set it in the house, fit my door in place, and was finally able to catch my breath. I was now safe and snug the entire night, except for the fact that I was hungry.

I sat on the grassy floor and was admiring every nook and cranny of my house. Pretty decent for a newcomer, I thought. I then pulled my sword out and started to admire it. Won't last me too long, I thought, but will do for tonight. Logic says I should get some resources tomorrow and... food!
